“NPR will be one of the dominant forces in media in ten years because their membership-based funding model is finely tuned”

Yeah Craig. Finally tuned to tax payers wallets. It’s Gov’t subsidized you filthy commie pinko. And as for truthful news, where were they on ACORN, Rev Wright, Van Jones? They are irrelevant. The kids sure as hell are not listening to Terry Gross on “Fresh Air”.

With the invention and development of craigslist, Craig Newmark is almost single-handedly responsible for the death of printed newspaper publications since craigslist single-handedly deprived these local market monopoly operations of their classified ad revenue, which use to represent 40% of their revenues. As such, Craig Newmark should be a hero of the right, since printed newspaper publications are almost all nothing but leftist propaganda organs.

However, just because someone had one great idea that changed the world, does not mean he will have another, and it certainly does not mean he is necessarily prescient in any way, nor does it necessarily mean he has anything meaningful to say outside of his one invention.

The master and early originator of a “crowd sourced” solution says the future is with an antiquated and dying “membership” business model? That’s too funny.

And everyone in the country will be walking around carrying NPR umbrellas and totebags

Yes, but in 2020 will my $100 donation still entitle me to the latest CD of 100 year old Peter, Paul and Mary singing "Puff The Magic Dragon"?

I’m still scratching my head over that idea.

Without government funding, NPR would be playing oldies.

"I have a feeling that membership models and philanthrophy models will be stronger than advertising-supported models, people will be willing to pay for news they can trust."...gibberish - but it brings to mind what some functionary from New Jersey Public Television had to say during hearings this week into the probability of switching the operation from a taxpayer supported to a foundation- contribution supported one - "we don't give the public what it wants, we give the public what it needs" - and aren't we common folk lucky to have the likes of such bureaucrats and Obama around to decide what's good for us.......

The site needs to be shut down and he needs to pay restitution to his own victims.

Millions of people use it every day to make mutually beneficial transactions. I just got a great violin. For my kid for $125. Great for me. Great for the seller. The site adds significantly to people's wealth by bring buyers and sellers together in a remarkably efficient manner. It is no more responsible for crime than a phone company because a crook uses a phone.

You should maybe try to keep your totalitarian instincts under better control.

This moron has it exactly ass-backwards. Paying for premium news feeds was tried and failed. Niche subscriptions for specialized information might work.

Where will NPR find a niche market? Maybe play Nazi Nuremburg rally songs for its moonbat leftist audience? How about selling DVDs of Goebbel’s most humorous harangues. NPR is part of the dinosaur media and will find a tarpit to wallow in and sink.

Glub! Glub!

Every liberal moron I know listens to NPR, and thinks themselves informed because of it. I take great pleasure in both destroying their regurgitated talking points, and then filling them in on the missing story components which always turn their heroes into demons, and their enemies into demi-gods.

NPR is to news what TMZ is to journalism.

I’ve found the best way to completely DESTROY any lib argument or talking point is to make them define the terms they are using.

Often they can’t, but sometimes they can, and they realize that the actual definitions reveal the fascism behind their ideology. Of course, they won’t admit it, and will usually go ad hominem on you.

Or they will flat out deny facts that you bring up that destroy their arguments. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen this.

” flat out deny facts “

response:
On what basis, besides your own feelings, do you deny that fact? Or are you just arbitrarily, ie, without reason, denying that fact?

I have never considered news to be a force but clearly this is the prism through which a communist views it. I think we here look at it as a source rather than as a force.

That’s when they would resort to the “Well, there are other factors, of course” evasion. And then they won’t define what those ‘other factors’ supposedly are. Or they will point to some study created by a lone bozo that they read about on Daily Kos (a study, which it will turn out years down the road, was never subject to peer review...) :-)
