(Reuters) - The U.S. healthcare reform law will worsen a shortage of physicians as millions of newly insured patients seek care, the Association of American Medical Colleges said on Thursday.
The group's Center for Workforce Studies released new estimates that showed shortages would be 50 percent worse in 2015 than forecast.
"While previous projections showed a baseline shortage of 39,600 doctors in 2015, current estimates bring that number closer to 63,000, with a worsening of shortages through 2025," the group said in a statement.
"The United States already was struggling with a critical physician shortage and the problem will only be exacerbated as 32 million Americans acquire health care coverage, and an additional 36 million people enter Medicare."

Degradation all around. Thanks again to the 63 million who voted that kenyan bastard into office.
Sorry for the confusing first post. Inadvertantly copied from another thread.

You bet!......headed for third world status as fast as we can!.......Thanks to the 63 million idiots!
Between Obamacare killing the economic incentives to enter medicine and the costs and time involved in medical training, this estimate is probably conservative-the shortage will be catastrophic.
We were notified today that our medical insurance provider Principal, is exiting the health insurance business citing the new healthcare reform and medical loss ratio.
Some reform!
Come on November!

Actually...your original comment works here, too! Then again, saying “degradation all around...” could be applied to anything dealing with Barack Obama. ;-)

Yep, and the sad part is this is just the beginning...
I saw an interesting article on Principal today:

At one time there were a lot of local mutual insurance companies. I wonder what it would take to get that trend started again.

Ummm...Nancy P, is this what you meant when you said we’d find out what was in it, once it was passed? Or did you even know?
More federal funds not the solution. Solution is to lower the standards for practicing medicine. Let Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants do more medical care. The medical industry puts forth “only the finest medicine is acceptable”. Translation: “only the most expensive”.
Fact is, people suffer and die even when the finest care is available. What’s the incremental benefit of, say, doubling the amount of medical care?
Medical schools aren’t going to do anything to lower the costs of getting a medical education. The medical industry wants to make more money. That’s fine as long as they don’t get it by inside deals with the government.
Our college education complex gets away with charging more than most students can afford, and they have created the mindset “students should borrow a lot of money because it will pay off” and “you can get money cheap from various institutions” and “everyone’s doing these things so you should too”.
Less government will solve this and most other problems we now have. Such a simple solution. Really.
I am a social smoker. My chances of receiving care from the gov’t are tied to that, as Obama himself said his aged grandmother should not have received a hip replacement. Cold. Bloodless. Reptilian. My care in the coming years is all going to be about “lifestyle” choices. I will be told to get lost because I chose to smoke. My insurance carrier has already sent me a letter which eliminates two of the nearby hospitals from which I could receive care.
The noose is already tightening.
