I feed my family of five on a $400 a month grocery budget. We eat well too! I could do it for $250-300 if I had to.

I know a single mom with two children that gets $500 a month food stamps. Before the end of the month she is asking her mother for help with groceries.

When it isn’t your money you will never manage it well.

Some things never change, eh? It's such a universal truth, I'm amazed that many liberals don't seem to understand it. My mother-in-law was a liberal, yet complained constantly about her daughter who didn't manage her life or money well all the while she gave her cars, computers, etc., and "loaned" her lots of money.

that is because they don't know how to plan meals.

about 22 yrs ago my wife and I were on food stamps between the two of us we got $198 and we bought meat to last at least a month plus all the other staples, now days we spend about 300 or so, but have meat to last a month and 1/2 plus all the staples, and any extras we care to pick up. the greats joy I had was buying food without the stamps!! laying out a 100.00 was the best!!
