One question. Is this the first wave? Will they all be there for the Jon Stewart rally plus whatever the comedian and Obama can draw? Maybe they think it will be a one two knockout punch. I wouldnt be surprised by such a devious followup plan right before the election.
Thanks for this posting! Interesting and the crowd comparison photos are excellent! A lot goes into estimating crowds, but nothing says it all like an over-head photo! ( As long as the photos were taken at approximately the same time of day. )
Do you guys out there in media land recall the event pictured below _______ ? ?
The March Was Scheduled to Begin at 11:30 AM. People Started Showing Up At 8:00 AM Until After 1:00 PM. The Camera Was Turned Off at Exactly 11:30 AM. Hundreds of Thousands More Were Gridlocked On Freeways and Trapped By Traffic

This is very unfair. From now on we must limit Beck attendee’s and require some of them to attend the socialist’s rally so that each has an equal number.
Fom the article:
“Some of the initial reports were very positive: the organizers estimated 175,000 to 200,000 attendees, according to Crooks and Liars...”
LOL.
Is that what they tell their wives/mistresses/girlfriends?
You know who says size doesn’t matter? People with small crowds, that’s who.
It don’t mean nuthin’. We’ll see who has the numbers in November.
DU`ers claiming 700,000 showed up at the rally.
I think it’s funny cSpan was caught using pics from Beck’s rally to play up this rally.
Great research and post.
Numbers don’t matter to those who don’t believe in democracy and fair voting practices.
The only “crowd count” I’m concerned about happens in November. B*tch about that when it happens.

It doesn’t matter how many people were at either rally. The only thing that matters is how many people get out and vote.
Steps of Lincoln Mem. to WWII memorial is ~750 m.
or about 2500 ft.
The width of the crowd is about 360 m or 1180 ft.
The dimensions of the refl. pool is 2000 ft x 180 ft.
So the total area covered by the crowd is approx.
750 x 320 m = 240,000 m^2 or
2500 x 1000 = 2,500,000 ft^2
You posted 2.4 million sq meters, but then you used it like 2.4 million sq. ft.
Still if you give people 5 sq ft in a crowd and say it was 50 - 75% dense, you can get 250,000 to 375,000 people.
