Arkansas voters received a flier in the mail Saturday which proclaimed in huge red letters:
"Rick Crawford wants to TAKE AWAY YOUR RIGHT TO SOCIAL SECURITY"
It sited as facts, "Crawford Remarks, 3/8/10"
Interesting, the meeting from which this broad assumption about Rick Crawford was made, had been recorded and posted to youtube. Here is the link:

"Social security is not solvent and we need to make some changes on social security. For those people who are particularly my age and younger, we need to allow them to participate in a private plan and come up with a way to provide for their own retirement. Then we can hopefully restore some solvency to Social Security for those people who genuinely need it."
Once again, the DCCC uses the same lying, slandering techniques as we see being used nation wide. Please pass this information to anyone who might benefit.

Since when did Social Security become a ‘right’?
Republicans should nationally run ads saying democrats want to take away Social Security, and for “evidence” point to the trust fund reports that say it is going broke and won’t be able to pay out any money to younger people. It would actually be closer to the truth than people realise.
Yes, that caught my attention, too.
Harry Reid is doing that here, too. He even says social security is a trust fund, which it no longer is, thanks to him and other Dims. If you call the social security line, there is often an ad (while you’re on Hold) that says “some people mistakenly believe social security is a trust fund, but that’s not true” ~ what is paid in today goes out today. Not a direct quote, but close.
In this age of computers, I don’t understand how anyone can be suckered by the liars.
It is clear that in the way SS is presently operated it cannot be sustained. I pray sensible people will rule the day on so many matters, including this one.

Considering that the government takes taxes from people specifically identified as being for social security, medicare and disability if needed then it SHOULD be a right to draw social security and medicaid benefits after reaching the minimum age for them and it SHOULD be a right to draw disability if a person is genuinely disabled but it has been made clear that we have no actual guarantee of ever drawing a dime. Legally the government could discontinue the whole program tomorrow and never pay another dime to anyone as far as I know.
The people mostly affected by this trash are older folks who haven’t yet become proficient with computers. Even my parents who are quite savvy haven’t discovered youtube. Facebook, etc. is not even in their vocabulary!
It is interesting that this same tactic on this exact subject is being used in Nevada!! I bet it is the exact same flier! How useless is that?!
I’m really cooked to overdone with all this stuff.
With that thought in mind, it seems that a truly concerned government would allow individuals to opt out of social security taxes to invest in other ways of providing for their future. Basically, a young person has more promise for future savings in the free market, given that the government will be unable to refund money paid in by young people. Honestly, I don’t understand the subject fully. But I do understand that we are headed for a break-down if something doesn’t change.

Democratic congressional candidate Chad Causey rolled out a new tv ad this week with the classic Democratic strategy of hitting his Republican opponent Rick Crawford on “privatizing Social Security.” But the ad is not only a cookie cutter Democratic ad, it is also funded directly by the Democratic Party of Arkansas through their coordinated campaign.
So that begs the question of why is the DPA footing the bill for Causey’s ads? Here is theory. Retiring Rep. Marion Berry had almost $300,000 left over campaign funds according to his most recent filings with the FEC. He is limited in what he can transfer directly to Chad Causey’s campaign. But he has a much greater leeway to transfer these leftover funds to the Democratic Party of Arkansas.
So perhaps Rep. Berry as a major supporter of his former Chief of Staff Chad Causey wrote the party a sizable check for their coordinated campaign and perhaps dropped a suggestion that they spent some of these funds to run some television ads for Causey for Congress.

Democrats’ Fall May Be Deepest in Arkansas

BRYANT, Ark. — That Democrats are in trouble is hardly news these days, at least in most places.
But Democrats in Arkansas, who have long dominated state and local offices despite the state’s essentially conservative electorate, have not been in this much trouble for as long as anyone can remember, at least anyone who was not around during Reconstruction.

But this may become political history. The question is whether this is just an anti-establishment year or a permanent change.
“I subscribe to the theory that Arkansas is just Alabama waiting to happen,” said John Brummett, a columnist for the Arkansas News Bureau. “I think it’s probably a realignment.”
The answer may lie somewhere in the First Congressional District, among the cotton and soybean fields of the Mississippi Delta. Ms. Lincoln got her political start here, and her successor, a reliable Blue Dog, will be leaving the seat after 14 years. But the Democrat running to replace him, Chad Causey, is in a fight for survival against his Republican opponent, a farm report broadcaster named Rick Crawford.
Mr. Causey is generally liked in the delta town of Blytheville, among the farmers, merchants and mechanics who gather every morning to dissect politics and biscuits at Poor Boy’s Café, Sharecroppers and the Dixie Pig. They express little love for the Republican Party and speak almost wistfully of their heritage as conservative but loyal Democrats, as one does of a long relationship that has gone inexplicably sour.
But while one could probably count the registered Republicans on one hand, one would have an even harder time finding anyone happy about the Democratic leadership in Washington.
“They really want to be Democrats, their fathers and grandfathers were Democrats,” said Neil Burge, 66, who owns a shoe shop and a men’s clothing store downtown. “But the Democratic Party has left the state.”
This falling-out goes back before 2008, on issues like abortion, but 2008 is when the divorce was made formal: John McCain won the state by double the margin of victory that George W. Bush had in 2004. (Mark Pryor, a Democrat, won his Senate seat with nearly 80 percent of the vote that same year.)

The frustration — and it is more frustration than Tea Party-style anger — runs that deep.
“Sometimes, if you’re used to a certain way, you go along with it, thinking it’s going to get better, but it just gets worse,” said Robert Earl Davis, 74, a farmer and justice of the peace who is still a registered Democrat. “My wife puts up with me even when I do wrong,” he added. “But there’s a limit to what she can take.”

A new round of FEC disclosures from the NRCC. You can only tell so much by where they’re spending, but these reports suggest the NRCC feels good about its chances all over the map, and isn’t afraid to spend everywhere at once.
And here’s the data from the FEC. The asterisk indicates districts where both parties are playing this week:

They all got the DNC e-mail. Gabby Giffords here in Tucson is trying out the same LIE on her opponent Jesse Kelly. If nothing else the Democrats are consistent in their idiocy.

I agree with you as long as it applies ONLY to those who did work and contributed to the program. With our corrupt government looking the other way when it comes to illegal aliens and outright fraud on all levels...well then I think it’s a very conditional ‘right’ subject to who votes for who and if there is really any money left after the shell and pea games.
11. Arkansas-1 - Lean R to Toss Up - Chad Causey’s internal polling is still showing him ahead by a point or two. In all reality that probably means he’s losing, but probably by less than 5, which is enough to make this race a toss-up affair. I’m still very ambivalent about this race because of how badly Blanche Lincoln is likely to get crushed, but from what I’m hearing, Causey’s campaign has been quite good.

Democrats push back with torrent of polls

Democratic lawmakers and House candidates have released a flood of internal polling data in recent days, aimed at countering the perception that Republicans have the majority within their grasp and numerous Democratic-held seats are as good as gone.
Democrats played down the timing of the new polls, and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Deputy Executive Director Jennifer Crider told POLITICO: “We are just making sure, heading into the stretch, that people understand where things really are.
“I think it says that before a ballot’s been cast, the Republicans have been celebrating prematurely,” she said.
Even as House Democrats shifted course and peppered the press with their versions of the campaign polling, party veterans groused that the GOP had taken control of the campaign narrative. Former Texas Rep. Martin Frost, who led the DCCC in the 1990s, complained in a POLITICO column this week that “most of the national press has been uncritically swallowing a steady diet of Republican propaganda: The race for the House is over; the Republicans have already won.”
So now, Democrats are countering with information that shows their at-risk members have fighting chances or better.
The DCCC put out a poll from Arkansas’s 1st Congressional District with Democratic nominee Chad Causey slightly ahead of Republican Rick Crawford in the open-seat race.

We noted that in its response to the poll which were conducted in part by Dr. Jay Barth who is also a member of the Arkansas Democrat Party Executive Committee, the Causey campaign issued a sophomoric statement not on issues or evidencing a desire to improve their messaging but instead presented a list of Obama Chicago style styled attacks titled: “Facts about Rick Crawford that do not resonate with Arkansans.”
The polls are showing Crawford is already resonating with the public. The first item is really going to tick off a lot of veterans in Arkansas; it reads: “He [Rick Crawford] graduated high school in New Hampshire.”
Yes, Crawford did graduate form a High School in New Hampshire. Why, because his Father was in the Air Force and was stationed at that time in New Hampshire. In fairness, we also noted that Rick Crawford was absent from Arkansas for many other years while serving in the US Army as an EOD specialist.
Could not find a record of Chad Causey serving his country. He has predominantly worked most of his post-teen life as a staffer for Rep. Marion Berry.
Thus, he too has also been absent from Arkansas — living in Washington, D.C. area. As a democratic staffer, he has associated with and supported the liberal elitists like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama.
While checking Causey’s credentials online, the following tidbit was noted: Causey has made numerous trips paid for by “foreign sources.” Maybe this is to be expected for a staffer.
But the following trip by Causey was most interesting: From 05/24/08 to 06/01/08, Causey was in Turkey for 9 days on a trip paid for ($3,020) by the Rumi Forum for Interfaith Dialogue.
This group follows the teachings of Muslim Imam Fethullah Gulen – founder of a “global” social movement. The group appears to operate internationally through partnering organizations. There is a link on their website for board of directors but the names of their directors are absent.
