I have always thought if anyone in this country was complacent it was Clinton (not that anyone was). His people were still in many departments. It was the dems who had to gain as they thought this would very possibly bring down Bush. Also, as an ironic interesting side note, it was a Clinton look alike face as a Satan that showed up in the smoke. If so, the far left has been really quot;barking up a way wrong tree".

A Tom Clancy character used a jetliner as a guided missile in one of his books, long before 9/11. It was not a new idea, at least in fiction. It did not take reality long to catch up.
The Bombing of the WTC, OK CIty (replete with 'Middle-Eastern looking' John Does who suddenly went off the radar--complete with an apology to CAIR before the dust settled), and Flight 800 may just be some of the examples of successful Islamic terrorist attacks which occurred behind the same smokescreen which hid highly questionable trade deals and contributions.
Considering the 'right winged (white guy) extremist' meme has been ressurected by this administration (even with its veneer of claimed racism), I think considerable skullduggery is going on behind the scenes financially as well as the highly questionable actions of the Congress and the Fed, which appear to involve and benefit enemies of the United States. Whether those actions are personally enriching the persons facillitating and participating in them, should they in fact exist, will have the potential to keep Grand Juries occupied for decades.
One thing is certain, little will come of it under the current 'management' in D.C.--not even the Bush administration had the juice or the will to pursue it in a meaningful way.
