F/V Cornelia Marie Sets Course for Discoverys DEADLIEST CATCH Once Again
Boat skippered by late Captain Phil Harris returns w/ Josh and Jake Harris on board
October 4, 2010
(Silver Spring, Md.) Discovery Channel President and General Manager Clark Bunting announced F/V Cornelia Marie, the crab fishing vessel that late Captain Phil Harris called home, will return with deckhands Josh and Jake Harris to fish the icy Bering Sea as DEADLIEST CATCH begins filming its seventh season.
Our Dad made a tremendous connection with so many fans and it is such a fitting tribute to his life that we, his sons, can remain fishing on the boat that he skippered for so many years said Josh and Jake Harris.
Josh and Jake head to Dutch Harbor, Alaska for the beginning of king crab fishing series and the start of production on DEADLIEST CATCH in mid-October. Captain Derrick Ray, who stepped in as relief skipper last winter following Captain Phils stroke, returns as captain along with engineer Steve Ward, and deckhands Freddie Maughtai and Ryan Simpson.

My vote would have been to sink the show. The first several seasons you had the novelty of a true men against the sea story that mainlanders had no idea existed. But with each new season it was always the same. How many times do you really need to see a deckhand splashed.
Discovery channel sensing the problem, the last season was half soap opera with cancer, drugs, and missing relatives at home. Next season is almost guaranteed to be worse as the brothers work out their "feelings" from the loss of their father and the drugs.

True. Not much else you can go on. Same for Loggers and Ice Truckers.
New season. Will Willie cut off his hand in a chainsaw accident or will Pete’s truck fall through the ice? Season 3... wash, rinse and repeat.
I think they should combine shows. Put the Survivor teams on two separate crab boats and let them have at it.
It would be a guys vs gals kinda thing. Of course the gals would be fishing somewhere in the South Pacific while the guys are in the Bearing Sea.
The gals wouldn't catch much but there'd be plenty of eye candy.
Good plot. I'll watch!
With the Axemen, the real stars are the trees and how incredible it is to watch them fall and hit the ground as well as anything else that gets in their way. The show concentrates way too much on the yarder and dragging trees up the mountain on the cable.
We get it. I have never seen Will and Grace and so much of the Hollywood tripe.
These are real men "doing" and doing what made America great. They are not a bunch of metro-weenies trying to cram some legislation down our throats.
Maybe we need a "Sig" in the House, running that business, he has more common sense than half the Congress...
Each new season? How about each episode?
Good luck with that, Discovery. I won’t be watching, and neither will a lot of other people. Without Sig and the rest, that show’s gonna sink faster than Obama’s poll numbers.
Neither of them will be on this season. The Hilstrand bros. were sued by the Discovery channel over problems with a spin off series and Sig Hansen withdrew from this season as a show of support for the Hilstrands. The Harris boys probably need the money to badly to quit.
No mention of Sig Hansen or the Hilstrand brothers>>>>>>>
All three have done great money wise on outside activities. There are 100 or more crab boats in Dutch Harbor. There has to be other hungry charismatic captains&crew that are bucking to be on TV
I like the Hillistrands and Sig....just saying
I'm curious to see if Edgar returns to The Northwestern.
At the end of last season it sounded as if he was done fishing.
My guess is he'll be back.
They're already hiring some of the truckers to run the world's most dangerous highways. The problem: in the first episode one of the big stars of IRTs, Canadian Alex Deborgorsky, quit halfway through his first run. I don't blame him though...he was almost lynched by an, and the road up the mountains is one of scariest roads you can imagine. It was hilarious to watch ex-IRT trucker Rick Yemm inveigh against the suicidal motorists who regularly passed him on blind curves with a several thousand foot drop on one side.
Sorry, an incomplete post. Alex was almost lynched by an irate mob in Delhi after his truck was slammed into by a crazy driver.
Perhap Sig & Edgar have better things to do than nursemaid TV camera crews year after year...
