Yes - he came within a few thousand votes of the seat in the special election also. Propagandists spun it as a ‘mixed’ night, despite the smackdowns in VA and NJ...
And now he’s done the right thing - as Conservatives are wont to do...
You’re right, I got the name wrong. Thank you for the correction.
“That said I wish conservatives wouldnt rush back to the safety of the establishment skirts but it will take time before the average conservative voter steps forward with confidence and isnt afraid to stand on principle even with the possibility of sure defeat.”
Yes. We need brave souls to fight for this nation - and we all need to support them against the onslaught of the propagandists.
“Instead, this looks like he just finally figured out that he had no chance of winning and thats the only reason hes doing this, because he thinks it will make him look better when he doesnt get votes.”
OK, but compare with Castle, Crist and MooCowsky - and you see that he’s done more of the right thing...he thought he could win on the Conservative line and almost did last year. Now he’s wisely dropping out and endorsing Doheny.
I mean give the guy a break for being rational, and way better than some RINO.
If the Conservative Party does not exist to get the most Conservative candidates elected - then for what reason does it exist?
“Good move by Hoffman.”
I agree. There will be another chance in the future for Doug.
Good for Doug! Shows he’s an honorable conservative.
Wish Dan Maes would do the same thing in Colorado, so that commie Hickenlooper won’t be our next governor. ‘Fraid that’s not gonna happen. Maes think’s he’s been annointed and nothing matters except that he’s the captain of his own ship and by god he’s gonna run her into the reef if it’s the last thing he ever does! Too bad he’s taking the crew down with her, namely us poor citizens of Colorado.
Much appreciated, Doug! Would’ve appreciated it even more had you dropped earlier, but we’ll take it.
Too bad about Doug Hoffman—he’s a good guy with good conservative ideals. Unfortunately he lacks appeal and is not a forceful enough personality so necessary for the northeast. Doug is sort of wimpy, milquetoast and unfortunately it doesn’t help sell him to the public.
It is what it is —best to you Doug Hoffman!
Glad he finally came to his senses.
Doheny used to be a good surfing spot.........before they built that groin.
Lazio was nominated for a judgeship from the Bronx.
Hoffman is not my district, but I get news about him.
Hoffman is a PATRIOT. He’s an average guy, he has spent is own money and time, and neglected his business to battle against Scazafava last year, and then try again this year. He’s has been doing what he thinks the country needs.
NY ping
You seeing it as a pity party doesn’t make it so nor you seeing him as a Dede shows your surface thinking on the matter.
I was addressing this year’s election. The difference between him and his opponent.
This year’s primary.
Thank you!
Yup, some on this thread are acting like spoiled brats. First, the first race he ran showcased the selfish nature of the GOP establishment even as the country remains in dire straits. Now, he concedes to give the GOP a better chance. He deserves a lot of credit.
Oh come on, Hoffman’s run last year (thanks to outside meddling by the Club for Growth) gave the seat to a Democrat for the first time in a hundred years.
Now, once again, the nomination goes to a bona fide Republican, Doheny, and all the ‘true conservatives’ who smeared Scozzafava are all for it.
Interesting to see how easy it is to abandon “principles.”
Good for Hoffman....’bout time.
