Border Patrol agents trying to keep up with the pace of illegal immigration along the southwest border have gotten stuck in a kind of bureaucratic limbo, with a new government report showing federal regulations have stalled projects for months.

In one case, it took the Bureau of Land Management almost eight months to issue a permit allowing Border Patrol to move an underground sensor in New Mexico. In another, Border Patrol officials were denied permission to improve maintenance on roads and surveillance in California, forcing the patrol routes north. In another, it took more than four months for the agency to get permission to move "mobile" surveillance in Arizona -- by that time, illegal immigrant traffic had shifted.

The military needs to replace the border patrol even if we have to close bases in Europe to do it. We need to lock down the border preferably with full militarization. Throwing illegal immigration aside Mexico is on the verge of civil war and it will spill over into this country if we let it and it could kill thousands of US citizens.

Mexico is a much bigger threat than China or Russia if only because its unstable and right on our border.

“Mexico is a much bigger threat than China or Russia if only because its unstable and right on our border.”

According to some congresspeople, even open border proponents, Mexico is the biggest threat of anyone.

Border Patrol veterans speak out

[snip]The National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers, or NAFBPO, has issued a proposal for “Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement and Reform.” Unlike the speeches by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, these proposals have some relation to reality. Who are the members of NAFBPO? Some are retired and former high-ranking Border Patrol managers, individuals who managed the agency’s training academy, supervised hundreds of agents in field operations or held senior positions at headquarters. Cumulatively, they have several hundred years of professional experience guarding our borders. The picture they paint of what needs to be done is based on that experience, not political...

I wish I could remember the name of the freeper who told me just the other day that the BP can go anywhere they want, anytime they want...

And how has this all come about?

We can do a lot to help the Border Patrol by not voting for politicians who support Illegal Alien Amnesty....Arizona kinda screwed itself when it voted for John McCain over JD Hayworth....no commitment to help the BP or stop Illegal Alienism

The military would have to follow the same environmental laws that the Border Patrol does. The BP is not the problem the problem is that they are not being allowed to do their jobs.
