From what I’ve read, seems like Harry is the most upright and honorable of the royals. Could just be a good PR machine telling the story.

But THAT DAMNED ROYAL JERK ... Prince Charles ... publicly humilated Princess Di beyond imagination ...

Shakespeare "rolls over" in his grave ... even today ... because such a Tragedy as this ...

Phil maybe a bit goofy but he’s not German, unless one says the Royals all are.

He didn’t do to bad in the RN either.

Phil was born into the Greek and Danish royal families.

1939, Prince Philip joined the Royal Navy, graduating the next year from the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, as the top cadet in his course. He was commissioned as a midshipman in January 1940. Philip spent four months on the battleship HMS Ramillies, protecting convoys of the Australian Expeditionary Force in the Indian Ocean, followed by shorter postings on HMS Kent, HMS Shropshire and in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka). After the invasion of Greece by Italy in October 1940, he was transferred from the Indian Ocean to the battleship HMS Valiant in the Mediterranean Fleet. Amongst other engagements, he was involved in the Battle of Crete, was mentioned in despatches for his service during the Battle of Cape Matapan, and was awarded the Greek War Cross of Valour. Duties of lesser glory included stoking the boilers of the troop transport ship RMS Empress of Russia.

Prince Philip was promoted to sub-lieutenant after a series of courses at Portsmouth in which he gained the top grade in four out of five sections. In June 1942, he was appointed to the V and W class destroyer and flotilla leader, HMS Wallace, which was involved in convoy escort tasks on the east coast of Britain, as well as the allied invasion of Sicily. Promotion to lieutenant followed on 16 July 1942. In October of the same year, at just 21 years of age, he became first lieutenant of HMS Wallace and one of the youngest first lieutenants in the Royal Navy. In 1944, he moved on to the new destroyer, HMS Whelp, where he saw service with the British Pacific Fleet in the 27th Destroyer Flotilla. He was present in Tokyo Bay when the instrument of Japanese surrender was signed. In January 1946, Philip returned to Britain on the Whelp, and was posted as an instructor at HMS Royal Arthur, the Petty Officers’ School in Corsham, Wiltshire.

Not quite. See post #16 for a link to that lists the order of succession.

"...The succession after Charles is William, Harry and Andrew......"

Thanks....! Wasn't Harry the one who was in combat operations in Iraq? If so, I didn't know that William was also active Military.

I say, hats off to both of these boys- they are both far more worthy of the throne than their father.

Glad he’s seeing some action and doing good. His mom would be proud.

Not sticking up for Chuck here, but the Royal family does have a record of serving. In fact, Chuck himself did qualify to fly Harriers. The “A” model I think. Not an easy bird to fly.

More significantly, the Prince of Wales, as a navy pilot, flew transport helicopters for the Royal Marine Commandos.

For some reason, American conservatives seem to have swallowed the media garbage about the Prince of Wales hook, line and sinker. They’re smart enough to realise the media lies, but seem to have just accepted the media portrayal of the Prince of Wales.

He’s a friend of mine, and while he is bit eccentric on a few issues, and in my view downright wrong on climate change, overall he’s a conservative patriot who served in country’s military and has dedicated his entire life to serving it in a civil capacity. He’s a good and decent man.

His sons have turned into fine young men as well, and while their mother deserves her share of the credit for that, the fact is, the Prince of Wales was doing just as much to raise them before her tragic death, and wound up having to do it all (albeit with a lot more help available than most single fathers) after that.

That’s been the opinion of the Brit socialist crowd for decades.

No, he didn’t.

Divorce is no impediment to being King. Remarriage might have been (the Church of England would have had to alter their position), but as far as the law is concerned, and the Church of England is concerned, once the Princess of Wales died, the Prince of Wales became a widower, not a divorcee, and was free to marry anybody except a Catholic.

Remarriage while your previous spouse is still alive wasn’t automatically allowed under Church law - divorce itself wasn’t a problem, just the act of remarriage.

All Kings and Queens basically suck. England should catch up with US and send them all packing. We have some wannabe rulers we need to take care of again.

You are aware, of course, that the Prince of Wales was involved in rescues at sea, himself as a Naval officer in the 1970s?

No, of course you weren’t - not your fault. The media likes to portray the man as some sort of weirdo and only his friends seem to know differently at this point. I just wish people would remember that the way the media presents people isn’t always accurate - and that’s especially true when the person they are trying to present is a conservative in a position of power.

“Distain for royalist is not class warfare.”

Yes it is toots. Because they are rich, famous, royalty, and you aren’t. The Queen of England and her family are not ruling the country anymore, in case you haven’t noticed. So it comes down to pure jealousy of their status in life that causes someone to define the son of the Queen as spoiled when he is actually out there doing something that is good, rescuing people, something he trained hard for by learning how to fly a helicopter, and putting himself at some risk during rescues. You can say it’s not class warfare, that doesn’t make it so.

Well toots. I have wanted to be a queen. And I never wanted to be the queen’s serf. You might think that is great. Don’t confuse me with you.

That doesn’t even make any sense. I read it three times and it still doesn’t make any sense. I won’t bother to read your comment a fourth time. You must think Queen Elizabeth, and family, are out to rule over you, the serf. That’s laughable. Unless you mean something else, but thus far your reasoning is inexplicable.

Both of Princess Diana’s sons have grown into good men.

She would be very proud.

Well, they must be a lot better at hiding their true natures than their father is. Perhaps they inherited their mother’s talent for faking it.
