Palin Camp Suspects Huckabee Loyalists on Joe Miller Staff Behind E-Mail Leak
The Other McCain ^ | Oct. 5, 2010 | R.S. McCain

Posted on 10/05/2010 4:37:47 PM PDT by Al B.

“This is the worst sort of betrayal I’ve ever seen,” one source close to Sarah Palin said in describing the leak of an e-mail that Todd Palin sent to Joe Miller, the Alaska GOP Senate candidate.

The source noted that some of Miller’s campaign staff have connections to 2008 Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, and suggested that these staffers have been advising Miller to distance himself from Palin.

Based on information in a post by notorious Alaska anti-Palin blogger Jeanne Devon, one pro-Palin source in Alaska deduced that the leak could only have come from Miller’s staff — unless Miller himself leaked the e-mail.

So Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Miller was a quid pro quo for her Presidential aspirations? What did Fiorina have to promise behind the scenes for her endorsement? Angry, petty or both?

R.S. McCain has updated his story as follow:
UPDATE II: In my haste to get this post online, I may have pulled the trigger too quickly — a hazard of the light-speed news cycle in the Internet age.

A few words have been changed, so that no one draws the wrong conclusion.

There are a couple of stories behind this story, and my sources (I have more than one) are telling me to cool my jets until this unfortunate situation can be officially clarified. But the problem of divided loyalties within the Miller campaign staff — that some Huckabee supporters are “f–ing everything up” — is dead-on accurate. For several months, I’ve been concerned that the mid-term campaign might suffer because some Republicans are looking ahead to 2012.

Miller’s supporters in Alaska are learning the hard way why I say you can’t spell Huckabee without an “F.”

UPDATE III: Give credit to Dave Weigel (who is certainly no Palin fan) for pointing out the obvious:

"It’s not news that Todd Palin is — what’s a nice word? — zealous in his defense of his wife."

Indeed, and as I suggested in my American Spectator article last month, the Palins have been burned so often by “disgruntled” sources and scoop-crazed journalists that I feel kind of guilty even having to do reporting about them.

More to follow...

Nice try. Try out your tripe on someone else.

Oh, sorry. I forgot that the Holy Mother and Father can’t be petty or angry.

And this is EXACTLY why Sarah Palin trusts NO ONE

Yep. It's reported that Sarah only has a staff of about 8-10 people, and that includes running her SarahPAC operation.

Her campaign, if she runs, will be the first Mom and Pop political operation in history.

Why are you attacking McCain when the article suggest it is Huckabee supporters?

Or are you confusing John McCain (the candidate) with RS McCain (the writer)?

Didn’t Todd complain that Miller didn’t come out and say that Palin is qualified to be president. Such a statement by Miller wouldn’t have been an endorsment. An endorsement would be something like “I will throw my support to Palin if she decides to run for President”.

So Todd wasn’t complaining that Miller didn’t endorse Sarah. Maybe he just wanted a little more rah rah.

So her endorsements now are based on a quid pro quo later?

But Sarah doesn't play the back-room game though.

My opinion is that these emails are bogus, Miller has a Huckster mole on his staff, or Pete Rouse/the Murkowskis are using dirty tricksters to sabotage Miller.

Sarah has said many times that she is focused on 2010 and her upcoming book/TV documentary.

That's what I took out of it, to the extent you can believe anything that lunatic Jeanne Devon says.

From the article posted here:

"UPDATE: Cubachi, Sissy Willis and other Palin supporters on Twitter had initially asked me to confirm that the e-mail is genuine — and obviously it is."

I remember watching Miller on Fox Sunday with Chrissy Wallace, in fact I posted on a Sunday Talk show thread here, complaining about the way Chris almost giggles as he asks people if Sarah is qualified to be President.

It was disappointing to hear Joe not willing to say, yes she is certainly qualified to be President. I was offended that he did not come out and simply say yes.

I remember the night of the primary win, he was the first one to say it was Sarah Palin that put him over the top. I heard him say she was the main reason.

I was offended for Sarah that he did not just say...yes she is Chris.

So I can understand that Todd and Sarah would certainly have been offended. They would have been offended even if she had no intention of running.

Blow it out your left ear, I didn’t knock Palin. I did say Todd overreacted and shouldn’t have used email when he knew his wife’s email was hacked before.

You don’t like it? Too bad.

Not quite. When Taft ran (and won) in 1908, he spent a lot of his time golfing, and none campaigning. TR's endorsement was sufficient.

Running a PAC is a lot different than running a big league campaign. There will have to be statewide organizations. The laws and the current primary system is such that a big organization would be needed, especially as she cannot count on the support of the existing Republican apparatus to do the organizational work at the primary stage.

“an interview I happned to see with Joe Miller and Cavuto was a strange one and that’s the meat of all this.”

*****************************************

I saw that interview. I hate to say it because I have defended Miller on this board and have spent hours doing articles and vanities when he wasn’t even on the radar screen. The interview made me sick and angry. When asked by Cavuto if he had promised to endorse her in return for her endorsement, Miller said, “I don’t make deals. Anyone who knows Joe Miller knows that.”

As if his endorsement at that point (or even now) means squat.

And as far as dodging the opportunity to say that Palin is qualified to be President, if he is having trouble answering that question, then he has a lot more serious problems than Murkowski’s write-in campaign. Disloyalty is perhaps the single vice I detest the most. If Miller wishes to win back some of the respect he squandered with that interview, he should immediately go on FOX and say Sarah Palin is well qualified to be President. In fact, she is the best qualified to be President.

Without Sarah Palin, Lisa Murkowski would be cruising to reelection and Joe Miller would never have gotten more than 30% of the vote. Her last weekend push and robocall saved him.

Good for Todd Palin.

That interview made me furious. Miller ought to go on FOX immediately and clear it up. He would be NOWHERE without Sarah Palin.

Disloyalty is to my mind worse than having the wrong position on an issue, or even several issues. From my observation, Sarah and Todd Palin don’t have the disloyalty gene in their DNA. I can imagine how angry Todd Palin was, because it made me angry.

“His job is to get elected in November to the Alaska Senate seat, NOT to serve as a prop for the 2012 campaign.”

And to get elected in 2010, Miller has to demonstrate character. His weaselly responses to Cavuto demonstrated just the opposite. Disloyalty is not a positive character trait. And it is politically stupid in Alaska to boot.

Well, that’s why the Cavuto interview struck me as so damn strange, because in every other prior interview that I watched, Miller would say without hesitation that of course he would support Sarah Palin and then he would praise her for all her help etc.
