Hillary Clinton 'could be running mate for 2012'
London Telegraph (U.K.) ^ | October 6, 2010 | Alex Spillius

Posted on 10/06/2010 9:59:58 AM PDT by Schnucki

Hillary Clinton, the US secretary of state, could swap jobs with Joe Biden, the vice-president, in time for the 2012 presidential election, according to Bob Woodward, the author and veteran reporter.

The move would see Mrs Clinton become Barack Obama's running mate, setting her up for a potential run at the presidency in 2016, while Mr Biden would get the post he has craved since before he was chosen as the president's deputy.

With the Democratic Party facing a rout at next month's midterm Congressional elections and Mr Obama likely to face a struggle to stay in office, rumours of the switch have been circulating Washington for months.

But the notion has been given added credibility by Mr Woodward, one of the Watergate reporters who brought down Richard Nixon.

He has enjoyed unprecedented access to the White House and a variety of government officials in the course of researching his new book on the internal debates about the war in Afghanistan.

He told CNN that "some of Hillary Clinton's advisers see it as a real possibility in 2012".

"President Obama needs some of the women, Latinos, retirees that she did so well with during the [2008] primaries and, so they switch jobs, not out of the question, and the other interesting question is, Hillary Clinton could run in her own right in 2016 and be younger than Ronald Reagan when he was elected president."

Doubters asserted that the speculation was the product of feverish Washington insider gossip. They argued that there was a great difference between Mrs Clinton's advisers seeing a possible switch and what Mr Obama's advisers thought.

If so and should it work, Pres. Obama should avoid quiet walks in Fort Marcy Park.

What a horrible thought. Two of the worst America haters ever.

They should both be tried for treason.

2016? She'll be 69 years old.

Her best scenario is one in which the GOP take the House and even Senate, and are unable to turn the economy around in time for 2012.

Then she can run in the primaries in 2012 as the rational middle path between GOP "obstructionism" and Obama's failed policies.

Obama lost the 2008 primaries on a sheer numbers basis, but won through a smart caucus strategy. That will not work a second time.

Personally, I don't think Hillary wants to be co-opted by this guy again. She's looking past Obozo to 2012, and the last thing she wants is to climb aboard his sinking ship.

Look for Hillary to become the Democrats' Anti-Obama after the 2010 elections decimate their ranks.

Question: If Joe Byden were found guilty of something and removed from office, what is the process to replace him?

The dems are so depressed about losing this election that they’ve started early on losing the next one.

and pigs may fly out of my ass. 8^) Clinton is too self absorbed to run as his vice President. There has been at least one story that he completely ignores her on matters of foreign policy too.

So she is no mood to suffer him any more than she has to. This is a non-starter.

I am surprised that some conservatives think that SHE would be a less objectional rat than our dear leader. SHE would be worse possibly because SHE is a more skilled politician. SHE has the same radical views. SHE is a committed Marxist. SHE has the same totalitarian leanings as our dear leader. HER corrupt dealings are every bit on par with our dear leader. SHE is every bit as polarizing as our dear leader.

Let’s hope the Republicans don’t repeat the mistake of 1864 and put a Democrat on the ticket as VP nominee. A Christie-Clinton ticket might win, but Christie’s term might be as long as Lincoln’s second term.
