The Key House Races "Candidate of the Day" thread will be posted daily up until Nov. 2 and feature a different candidate each day. Each of these candidates is in a Toss Up, Leans D, or Likely D race and represents one of the front line soldiers in the fierce battle for control of the U.S. House.
The DCCC and liberal special interest groups are pouring resources into these races and will continue to do so up until Nov. 2. Thousands of donations targeted toward the GOP candidates in competitive races will NEUTRALIZE the donations of these Democratic special interest groups. Targeted donations are KEY to the GOP taking back the House in November and derailing the Pelosi/Obama Express of failed economic policies, bailouts, higher taxes, and government takeovers.
If you want your donations to have the greatest impact, here's where to start. Click on the Republican candidate's name below to link to the website where you can make a donation.

SHAMOKIN, WILLIAMSPORT & CARBONDALE TO NORTHEAST PA Before Chris Carney won in 2006, Republicans held this seat for more than four decades. Carney voted for the trillion-dollar government takeover of healthcare twice and for the failed trillion dollar Obama stimulus. This November he faces former United States Attorney Tom Marino, who was previously elected to serve as the District Attorney of Lycoming County. It looks like a tough year for the Tax and Spend Carney. (bh) |

Tom Marino has suffered bad press involving his giving a reference letter he gave to a convicted felon while working for the Justice Department. He also is badly underfunded. Marino may still win in this Republican-voting district, but he’s turned out to be a bad candidate.

Yes, I know what you mean about Marino. But NE PA is just a cesspool. There’s just nobody up there who is clean. It’s kind of like North Jersey Lite. It used to be a mafia stronghold and the old mafia ways still rule the roost in politics and business. I just don’t think anybody up there in government, Republican or Democrat really plays by the rules-you just can’t play by the rules there and win. Marino may be the best of what’s available up there, unfortunately.

Too bad he’s underfunded. Luckily his is the most Republican out of the targeted seats in PA.
It’s a pretty cheap media market up there. Much of it is boonies. Marino has name recognition so that will make up for some of the money disadvantage.
A less ethically challenged GOP candidate would have this seat in a cakewalk, I believe. Marino still might ride through on Corbett’s and Toomey’s coattails. Both the governor and senate races have been stuck for the past month or so. Onorato has gained some on Corbett as nobody knew who he was until he started advertising. But still both races consistently show Corbett/Roomey up 6-8 points.
