Man tried to force girlfriend at gunpoint to have abortion, police say Wednesday, October 6, 2010 04:30 PM Updated: Wednesday, October 6, 2010 05:46 PM By Jeb Phillips The Columbus Dispatch

WBNS-10TV Dominic L. Holt-Reid

A Near East Side man pointed a gun at a pregnant woman and forced her to a health clinic this morning after she refused to go through with a scheduled abortion, Columbus police say.

Dominic L. Holt-Reid, 27, of 579 Kelton Ave., was arrested and charged with kidnapping and carrying a concealed weapon. Police found him about 9:45 a.m. in a parking lot behind Founder's Women's Health Center, 1243 E. Broad St., said Sgt. Rich Weiner, a Columbus police spokesman.

Holt-Reid and the woman he forced to the clinic have a child together, Weiner said. But they do not appear to share a home address, he said.

The two were in a vehicle this morning after dropping their child off at school, according to a police statement. Holt-Reid became angry after the woman refused to go through with an abortion that had been scheduled for 9 a.m.

Holt-Reid pulled a handgun from a glove compartment, pointed it at her, and forced her to drive to the health clinic, according to police. The woman passed a note to a clinic employee, who called police.

The woman wasn't harmed.

Kelton Ave, said it all for me. That’s a no-go area.

So the clinic called the police, instead of forcing the woman to abort?

Thank God the mom is pro life, and kept her wits about her. Thank God she chose her baby over that nut.

Drug area?

Yep. The 20 square blocks surrounding that street account for 80% (roughly 100) of the murders in the entire county of 1 million people.

A new feminazi folk hero is born. Sad part is the woman will probably stay with the scum.

If the scumbag is convicted of kidnapping, he’ll do at least five years. But don’t bet on it. This place is plea bargain heaven.

At some point it might be hard to define someone as a “girlfriend” when they have been kidnapped at gunpoint.

Thank God this went the way it did -so far. Wake up call and prayers for the woman.

I had no idea that anywhere in Ohio was that bad. I visited the Lima/Dayton area some years ago, and it was very nice. The people were great. I’ve had Ohio in my heart since then. So sorry to hear this. I guess that no place is immune.

Wait a minute!

What about his rights?

If he's half the equation, shouldn't he have equal say?

They should force the woman go to term, then cut it in half.

There.
Justice served. , (because I can't believe how cruel this sounds, even for parody)

Columbus is the largest city in Ohio, 15th largest in the United States. We can’t avoid the trouble here.

Percentage wise, with crime, they're every bit as bad as Columbus, Cincinnati and Cleveland.

I live in a suburb of Columbus and our police look very closely at the scum that come out here from the city.
