Old, Unelectable Democrats Have Lots of Advice for Barack Obama
Newsweek ^ | 10/6/10 | David A. Graham

Posted on 10/07/2010 3:59:21 AM PDT by chickadee

Though his party is ailing as we enter the home stretch of the election, President Obama and his supporters can take heart, knowing that he's getting new strategies for electoral success from a fresh crop of advisers.

For example: former vice president and failed presidential candidate Walter Mondale. You can't read the news these days without finding pearls of wisdom the Minnesota Democrat has dropped. Mondale is 82 and last won a major election under his own name in a 1970 Senate race. After a term as vice president, he ran for president in 1984 and lost every state save his own and the District of Columbia.

Woke up about 4 AM.

Mrs. Theknow turns the TV to CNN during the night when she wakes up, since they are the only ones giving any news at that time of day.

ARGH!

The CNN analists...um, analysts...were on with Eliot Spitzer?!?

The topic...Why isn't President 0bama getting his message out more effectively?

The RenCen in Detroit would be the perfect venue.

Remember the talk of putting Obama on Mt Rushmore? We need a new mountain of Dem losers.

The Democrats' monument wouldn't be carved on a mountain — it would be carved out of a hole in the ground.

We could name our largest garbage dumps after these “esteemed” politicians.

What a spiteful article.

No kidding! Someone should remind the author that before they were "old unelectable Democrats", each of these men were rock stars in the Democrat party.

Meanwhile, Obama actually has been taking advice from leftists who are so unelectable, their names have never appeared on a ballot - Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, David Axelrod, Rahm Emanuel. At least we'll find out how electable Rahmbo is in a little while.

Odd that the article doesn't mention John Kerry as an "unelectable" Democrat. Kerry was elected to President or Vice President fewer times than Carter or Mondale, yet he's always chiming in with advice.

Nor does the article mention Bill Clinton, who was perfectly electable, yet would offer much of the same advice as the "unelectable" ones.

How about etching their face in the ground down at the county landfill?

In fact, I could swear I saw an image of the Wee Wee there ... just last week.

He did lose MN in 2002.

"In a major upset, Mondale narrowly lost the election, finishing with 1,067,246 votes (47.34%) to Coleman's 1,116,697 (49.53%) out of 2,254,639 votes cast, earning him the unique distinction of having lost a state-wide election in all 50 states as the nominee of a major party (he lost the other 49 in the 1984 Presidential Election)."

That was my thought, too. I was thinking one of those coal mines that Obama wants to put out of business.

That’s exactly right. I remember the MSM trying to turn Dukakis into another JFK. They were waiting for a new Camelot when he was leading Bush Sr. in the polls. It was laughable. Now Dukakis is and “old unelectable” Dem now that he is criticizing the new Dem savior. The Dems are really a party that revolves around cult of personality—just like the Communists. Attack the messenger. Mondale said Obama should get rid of the idiot cards. That’s perceptive advice no matter who it comes from. But any hint of attack, no matter how justified, results in a counter-attack by the MSM.

Here’s the latest:

Mondale on Obama, How He Could’ve Beat Reagan - Steve Kornacki, Salon
http://www.salon.com/news/politics/2010_elections/index.html?story=/politics/war_room/2010/10/24/walter_mondale_interview

Why is it that the Dem’s biggest losers magically have so much wisdom to share? Carter coulda had national health insurance—but for Ted Kennedy. Mondale coulda won in 1984 with just 1 more good debate performance (seriously, 1 more good debate performance would have turned around an election in which his opponent won 49 states?????!!!!!????).

If these anecdotes don’t prove that Democrats as a group are delusional, it certainly appears that many of the people they nominate for president surely are.

Mostly everything Dems “believe” in is made up out of whole cloth. Their tired old ideas have been tried repeatedly in countries all over the world. They result in oppressive societies which, in turn, kill millions of their own citizens trying to enforce the “dream”.
