The Palin Platform--All Great Ideas Are Simple
Right Network ^ | 10/7/2010 | Morgan Freeberg

Posted on 10/09/2010 9:11:01 AM PDT by Brices Crossroads

Nobody but nobody, it seems, feels lukewarm about Palin.

That her ideas possess currency is undeniable. In fact, just now there is a burst of energy behind her ideas. Which is interesting, because her ideas are rather plain; in fact, they are wholly lacking in anything remarkable at all. They are deficient in the irony people usually crave. These are quaint, bland, “up is up and down is down” ideas. If she were to announce a run for the Presidency, it would probably be along these lines:

1. The Government should fear the citizens, not the other way around.

2. If you want the economy to be stronger, do not fight the people who produce our nation’s wealth. Help them.

3. If your plan will not get us the results we need, with all due respect I could care less how smart you are.

4. If we have seen this scheme put into action before, and have yet to see it succeed; then let us shelve it until someone makes it work.

5. Make it inexpensive to put people on a payroll, or to keep them on it. Then, maybe businesses will make cuts somewhere else during the lean times…and perhaps hire some more. We are not beating this any other way.

6. Every move we make on foreign policy should send a signal to our allies that they made the right choice defending us; or, to our enemies that they made the wrong choice and need to reverse course. Those who are undecided about us, but watching, should be motivated in a powerful way to decide in our favor.

7. Anyone who does something you might not be ready, willing or able to do yourself – regardless of what they pull down for an hour on the job before overtime – is deserving of your respect.

These are dangerous ideas. Because they just might do what they're supposed to do... and fix more problems than they create.

This is a dangerous woman. She is committed to ideas like these. Come what may, you will not see her supporting their opposites. And she can fill up a stadium, bookstore or rental hall without paying people to be there. It's a bad, bad combination... depending, that is, on who you are and what you're trying to do.

An excellent article and a very pithy plaftform, reminding us of Reagan's old line: "The solutions to our problems are not complex, but simple. They are just not easy."

This is why Palin continues to extol the "time-tested truths" as she puts it.

Good article. True words. Our problems are things that can be solved. But, to solve them we will have to break a few eggs, mess about with the way things have always been and maybe be a bit less politically correct. Sarah has the vision of an outsider. I would trust her over Harvard Professors who think they know what they are doing.

"I going to explain this simply because that is how they explained it to me"

Ronald Reagan

I miss him.

"We will simply apply to government the common sense we all use in our daily lives."

Another simpleton weighs in on "common sense". /s

Good article. Thanks for posting.

The solutions are simple. They are not easy only because the statists will oppose them.

Palin has thus far been very effective in besting the statists and their fellow travelers like Murkowski and Castle and in promoting solid conservatives.

The left and the Establishment detest her not just because she can win, but because she MEANS WHAT SHE SAYS.

Thanks, Al. This article reminded me of Reagan’s well worn saying: “It is not that our liberal friends are wrong. It is just that they know so much that isn’t so.”

this should all be known as “COMMON SENSE”

how have we reached the point as a country (and a world) where such basic, important, should-be-obvious ideas are not universally understood, embraced, implemented?!?

If I read this right, these ideas are those of the columnist, and not of Sarah Palin. He’s clever to get us to read his stuff by implying that they’re her ideas.

Only my opinion, but perhaps Mrs. Palin long ago realized how much she has in common with Ronald Reagan. As she ascended the political ladder this notion has been reinforced, to a point where she does indeed see herself as the rightful heir of Reagan.
I think she is. I also believe that all others being touted for 2012 certainly are not. Though a couple possess the potential to be very good presidents.

“Who prefers the complex lies we hear for all the others?”

No one. Palin should run on a platform or REPEALING laws, not enacting new ones. He should make it her goal ro repeal ObamaCare but she should not stop there. The United States Code has grown like a metastatic tumor and it nees to be Palinized, that is shrunken, along with the massive Code of Federal Regulations.

Moreover, Palin should not stop there. She should support Governors who will pledge to cut the nanny state regulations in their states, like red light cameras, mandatory auto insurance, high occupancy hours and lanes for traffic. Every law is a restriction on freedom for the individual and an accretion of power to the state. And I think every new law should have a sunset provision that require it to be reauthorized.

Her crusade should be to roll back as many of these unnecessary laws as possible and to thereby enhance individual freedom. It is individual freedom, not a plethora of laws, that makes this country great and unique.

Palin was a great governor up here, bottom line. She cleaned up the corruption within the Repub Party and did more for the state than all the governors I have seen before her; just look at her record.

Among those ‘time tested truths’ are amnesty for illegal aliens. While McCain calls for regulation; Palin calls for registration.

Also for LOST, a global treaty that will constitute a HUGE grant of power over most of the earth’s surface to the United Nations. LOST also creates the first global taxing authority, with power vested in an unelected bunch of international bureaucrats.

Simple straight forward ideas are hated by those that thrive on confusion & manipulation such as lawyers & politicians (That's why we see laws that are thousands of pages long & that no one has time to read).

Sarah gets my vote.

Plus she's not guilty.

I have looked hard at the others because of Palin’s negitives...but just can’t get excited about anyone else out there. She is the one. I prey she will run. PALIN 2012. Just plain common sense. It’s not really harder than that if you have good people under you.
