Tierney adamant: 'It was her family's stuff'
Gloucester Times ^ | Oct 9, 2010 | Matthew K. Roy

"His campaign under siege after his wife's admission this week to falsifying federal tax returns, Congressman John Tierney said Friday he knew very little about her management of a bank account full of illegal gambling profits.

"I couldn't tell you if there was $5 going through there or $500. It was her family's stuff," he said."

"The kids, all teenagers, were a "handful." Their mother was also away in Florida receiving treatment for health issues. Besides Patrice, a young au pair was there for the kids.

"She was part of the problem," Tierney said of the au pair. "She wasn't doing her job. The kids were ruling the roost."

In August, Eremian and Patrice Tierney's other brother, Daniel, were indicted on charges that included racketeering, money laundering and operating an illegal gambling business. Robert Eremian is currently a federal fugitive."

"It's the au pair's fault"

Seriosly, this has to go national - it would be funny if not true (that he said it)!

Am I correct in guessing this is a democrat with tax issues? I really like the au pair thingy. You can always spice that part of the story up.

If I read correctly, the wife’s brother made $7 million gambling. Does he have a teachable skill? Were these joint returns or were all the problems on the wife’s individual filing?

And, vote the jerk out on principle... after all, he’s a Dem.

If his name is on the bank account he is guilty.

My opinion....

This should make BOR’s Pinhead or Patriot segment, at the very least.

Btw should did plead guilty, was fined less than $5,000 and three months of house arrest for laundering $8,000,000.

I don’t get it. Seeing that he’s a Democrat, how is it possible that his wife actually got indicted?

So an Au Pair is supposed to raise their kids for them?

That alone should tell voters everything they need to know about how they take responsibility

"I couldn't tell you if there was $5 going through there or $500. vs. "I couldn't tell you if there was $7 going through there or $7 million.

Notice the spin in his version? By downpplaying the actual amount, he makes it sound almost reasonable. People could buy that his wife put away a little money on the side without her husband knowing about it, but $7 million dollars is beyond crediblity.

So he “had no idea”?

The guy was already convicted once, and they “had no idea” that huge quantities of money appearing in his acoount were anything other than legit>

Uh Huh.....

And his wife who was doing her brother’s taxes never thought to even ask for a W2 or 1099? She just puts down “commisions” and gets away with it?

Man... The pervasiveness of corruption amon people in politics (whther or not it invloves their job) is as saddening as it is disgusting.

And no doubt people today will buy his excuse.

Of course many here will buy Megt Whitman’s excuse re here housekeeper too....

How much you wanna bet that it was not gambling, but a brother-in-law money laundering for some corrupt congressman’s bribery/extortion operation.

Read the article.

It’s not their kids, it’s his wife’s brother’s kids.

“guessing this is a democrat with tax issues? I really like the au pair thingy. You can always spice that part of the story up.”

You know they’ll spin it this way:

“Au pair (R) mishandles family’s finances.”
