Republican Susana Martinez now leads Democratic Lieutenant Governor Diane Denish by nine points in New Mexicos gubernatorial election.
The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Martinez, a county prosecutor, picking up 52% of the vote, her best showing in the ocntest to date. Denish draws support from 43%. One percent (1%) prefer some other candidate, while four percent (4%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The margin hasn’t grown, but it looks like public opinion is crystalizing in Martinez’s favor.
The latest Martinez ad (sorry I don’t have a link) is great: I presume it’s an old Richardson/Denish ad with Denish herself spouting all their wonderful “accomplishments”, but text superimposed with the facts about all the lost jobs, 49th ranking in education, etc.
I agree. When it started I thought it was another Danish ad, but as it went on I realized it was a Martinez ad. Very effective, especially as it attacks the bs line from Danish about being an ‘outsider’ in Santa Fe.
