Manchin Fires Gun at Cap and Trade Bill in New TV Ad (Cap & Trade supporter gets desperate)
Fox News ^ | 10/11/2010 | Jake Gibson

West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin appears in a new television ad firing a gun, while telling viewers he will "take on Washington and this administration and get the federal government off our backs and out of our pockets."

Manchin's Republican opponent, John Raese, has attacked Manchin as a sure "rubber stamp" for President Obama and Washington Democrats if elected to the U.S. Senate and the strategy may be working, with the well known governor trailing in the polls.

In the newly released ad, Manchin tries to change that perception by promising to "repeal the bad parts of Obama care," using the term favored by conservative Republicans to describe Obama's national health care law. The candidate also says he will "take dead aim at the cap and trade bill," while firing a rifle at a mock copy of the cap and trade bill.

If West Virginians are gullible enough to believe this liar, they deserve to lose their coal industry. They better pray for a Republican Senate instead.

Cap and Trade already passed in West Virginia. Just with a different name.

Manchin, was for it, had no problem with people paying ‘carbon tax’...

“Cap and Trade already passed in West Virginia. Just with a different name.
Manchin, was for it, had no problem with people paying ‘carbon tax’...”

——Yep. I just saw this article (what a fraud this guy is):

“House Bill 103 was passed by the West Virginia legislature and went into effect on July 1, 2009. With the Governor’s blessing, this bill now makes West Virginia the first coal state in the nation to have an “alternative and renewable energy standard,” meaning that in 15 years, 25% of our power plants’ energy will have to be alternative in nature.

That’s a lot of wind energy, folks.

The bill further states that “an electric utility shall have the right to recover the costs of complying with the alternative and renewable energy portfolio standards set forth in this article in a manner prescribed by the commission.”

Would you care to guess who will be paying for this? You will, that’s who.

But we should have seen this coming. Governor Manchin startedto sell out the West Virginia coal industry even before the beginningof his second term as Governor.

In 2008, towards the very end of the Presidential campaign, the Obama Administration trotted out a bonafide coal state Governor named Joe Manchin. Clearly, Manchin’s job as a perceived pro-coal Governor was to show how “reasonable” Obama’s position on cap and trade and a carbon tax really was.

Here’s the exact quote from Manchin when asked abour cap-and-trade and a carbon tax on MSNBC’s “Power Lunch” program on November 3, 2008. Manchin was out there doing his best to help Obama win the election:

“We’re going to have a very aggressive renewable portfolio, but we need that partnership and Barack brings that leadership to us. He brings that partnership coming from a coal state himself. Now, they’re going to have to pay for the carbons – whether a cap-and-trade or whether it’s in a carbon tax.”

The Rasmussen poll that came out today had Manchin up by 3.

I hope this is just a fluke. I can't believe that WV is actually falling for Manchin's hokey "I'm SO tough on Obama that I'm going to use a REAL GUN to shoot his Cap n' Trade bill and besides, my opponent is a SCARY big business man, and you know what that means!" crap after bending over to earn his presidential knee-pads for the last two years.

All I can say is if they are stupid enough to elect him, they deserve to have Obama shut down all the coal mines and trade their $60K a year jobs for welfare check.

I think you’re referring to the PPP poll (a lefty firm with traditionally suspect polls)

Yes, you are correct. They way realclearpolitics.com had it listed just above the Rasmussen poll that had Raese up by six last week, I assumed it was the news Ras poll. At least now I feel a little better.

It was such a scandal when Palin’s website featured setting our sights on certain seats.

Now this guy has an ad where he’s shooting the cap and trade bill to pieces.

IF we apply dem logic, he’s a dangerous psycho encouraging others to kill those who support cap and trade.

Suddenly every democrat liberal is a red neck republican loving gun toting patriot.

Goodwin is the husband to Jay Rockefeller’s office chief of staff in WVa. How’s that for Democrat incest?
Raese will win this. Ignore the polls, they are being used to shape the election before the election. The Democrats have only the unions in WVa for a base. The problem is that the majority of the working people work for the state. So it is an uphill climb, but with prayers to God we will succeed.

Yep. PPP in particular has been doing this for a long time. They make it look like Republicans in the South are always in trouble, but conversely they oversell Conservatives in deep Blue states before primaries, to try to influence the primary and get a less-electable candidate. (It all begs the question: why are people supposedly more Conservative in Blue states than in Red ones? A bunch of liars...)
