A government supported by the anti-Islamic politician Geert Wilders is to take office in the Netherlands on Thursday, with plans to harden immigration rules and cut public spending.
In a nod to tradition, Mark Rutte, the incoming prime minister, and members of his government will stand on the balcony of the royal palace in The Hague to accept a mandate from Queen Beatrix to form the countrys first minority administration since the second world war.

When the Netherlands, the most liberal and in some views, immoral place on the planet, decides to start cutting public spending and harden on immigration, it’s pathetic that the US not do the same.

Am I right in thinking that public prosecutors in Wilders’ trial for anti-Muslim “hate speech” are now saying they will not pursue the matter any further?
The Dutch/Nederlanders are actually a more libertarian minded people. I’ve been there twice in the last year. The RLD and the coffeeshops make up a very small part of the Netherlands. They are somewhere between the British and the Germans when it comes to culture. All you have to do is spend 5 minutes at Centraal Station to release you might as well be in Morocco. Most Dutch are very conservative and are a proud and independent people with a rich history of capitalism. Geert is on the cutting edge of the new Rennaisance.
We need a Geert Wilders here.
I have to say though, I am sure it is nice to teh RF that they are now dealing with politicians who respect the monarchy instead of the hippies who spit in their face day in and day out.
Thanks.
I’ve never understood how a movie that is pretty much a compilation of news clippings can be inciting anything.
There is still a great deal of respect for the queen. The muzzy attempt on her life during Orange Day is probably helping Wilders argument. The Dutch have their apologists and liberal idiots. But they also take their freedom and their culture very seriously. It’s not smart to trifle with the Dutch. They are a small country but their influence is strong from New York to Johannasburg to Indonesia.
Nice map you've drawn there. Something to think about.
