Destroying Schools to Achieve Racial Justice

I've long suspected that the federal government is consciously subverting American education. Deep inside the Department of Education, there must exist a top-secret Bureau of Educational Disasters (BED) whose mission is to concoct alluring but guaranteed-to-fail, academic achievement-killing policies whose sole benefits are more jobs and mindless paperwork. These would be the folks who recently bribed states to retain academically troublesome students whose behavior hindered decent students so as to make America "better educated," i.e., a nation of high school "graduates" barely able to read their diplomas.

Well, like all industrious Washington bureaucrats, BED, with Department of Justice support, soldiers onward. Their latest education-destroying innovation is eliminating the disproportionate suspension and expulsions of African-American students. This is not empty rhetoric; it is included in the Obama administration's $4.3-billion Race to the Top initiative, and schools that fail to mend their ways will lose federal funds and face expensive litigation at a time of shrinking education budgets. In fact, the future is already here, as schools are increasingly being targeted in resource-draining civil rights complains about disciplinary unevenness (see here).

Though one could argue that black youngsters cannot learn unless permitted to stay in the classroom, and whites and blacks should receive the same punishment for identical offenses, this initiative would win a Nobel Prize if such a prize were awarded for foolishness.

There is more here, however, than just foolishness. This policy clearly panders to blacks, the sole demographic group not yet disenchanted with the president. Arne Duncan even announced it on the 45th anniversary of the famous Birmingham, AL “Blood Sunday” civil rights march.

But, rhetoric aside, the measure will undermine education for many education-hungry blacks in racially mixed schools by subverting school discipline. To be impolite, given a choice of helping blacks versus draping a destructive policy in feel-good historical rhetoric, Obama elects the anti-education option. This sin is inexcusable — a sign of moral depravity, not just inept policy-making.


Nothing like RACE BASED DISCIPLINE/PUNISHMENT, is there?

Yeah, stir the pot and make us BEHAVE more and more like a third world country.

The suspensions and expulsions of African-American students are “disproportionate” for the same reasons that the African American prison population is disproportionate: they done the crime.

We were just talking about this at breakfast...including the DC superintendent of schools who was forced out and resigned yesterday. Obama’s election message was free college education for all, which would open the doors of MIT and CalTech, Ivy League schools, etc. through affirmative action for illiterates and incompetents.

Some years ago Jesse Jackson demanded that MIT promote and graduate blacks no matter what. The school had seen a number of blacks commit suicide when they couldn’t achieve academic requirements despite intensive, year long tutoring. The kids were so ashamed and humiliated after being accepted...the best and brightest of their families, and all probably on full scholarships, that they couldn’t face having failed. MIT said they should have gone to other schools where they could have made the grade. They would have been happy there and led wonderful lives.

Jackson was furious, but MIT said people’s lives depended on engineers who built bridges and other structures, and if they graduated incompetents, Americans would die. Evidently Obama thinks we can absorb that.

How about blacks are not prosecuted for committing crimes?

How about blacks get special treatment for jobs, tuition, admittance to colleges, special business loans, preferential employment promotions, and.....oh....never mind....they already get those.

Plenty of people say poverty is the real reason black students in the Seattle Public Schools are 2.6 times more likely to be suspended or expelled than other students. It isn't. Plenty of people blame the race-based discipline gap on broken homes in the black community.They're wrong, too. Black students -- regardless of their home lives -- are simply far more likely than others to be suspended or expelled, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer found in a two-month investigation.

Where is this guy when we need him? I'll tell you where. Out. He challenged the activists, and lost.

The gap narrowed on standardized tests by 18 points...

But that doesn’t stop them from graduating incompetent police officers and firefighters for “diversity” (along both racial and gender lines).

I look at this like some look at the Health care Bill.

It is stated that at some time an older person has to admit that more medical treatment is useless and it has to be cut off.

I look at education this way. At some time a person who refuses to attend classes, behave themselves in those classes, stop disrupting those classes needs to be cut off.

It reflects Obama’s chip on the shoulder RACISM!

The academic standards are LOW and FUZZY.

For example, your children will NOT be required to learn anything beyond two digit addition. Beyond 99 + 99 will be the highest yo go. Forget three digit addition such as 999 + 999. You won't need to know how to add that. I suppose that is when calculators truly take over. Already in kindergarten CALCULATORS are encouraged! Multiplication will not be taught till 4th grade and it goes on and on and on.

BTW it will continue to be taught as “group think”. It is the PROCESS that is important; not the answer or the RESULT. The GROUP, through collaborative learning, will determine what the concept is and how to apply it.

Naturally the teacher will be on the sidelines. If you have a question, some brave soul will approach the teacher and the teacher will respond to their question with another QUESTION! I can't imagine the frustration kids will face everyday. It's no wonder the ARTS will thrive since that is SUBJECTIVE. Math and science will continue to falter.

We are truly DUMBING KIDS DOWN like never before. Some will laugh and think, thank God my kids are done. Or maybe some don't have kids and don't plan having kids. Either group is in trouble. It is because these kids will be running our country some day. They will be EMOTIONAL MORONS who can't THINK. They will have no KNOWLEDGE to base their decisions on.

You'd better care or you will get people in positions of authority WORSE than Obama. They will have his mindset. What Obama doesn't destroy, they will. Is it any wonder that college kids embraced Obama? No surprise here.

They will have been conditioned to think highly of Marxism and reject capitalism. Now they will also have NO ABILITY to do basic Math or REASON out anything because their logic is skewed and they have been taught PROCESS is more important that RESULTS. The bottom line is the INDIVIDUAL is being ERASED and replaced with the GROUP and EMOTIONS are what they will use to make decisions in their narrow, bigoted utopian world. They will continue to HATE their country and be apologists for it. Mark my words or READ and SEE what your kids are learning. I am not exaggerating.

The gap between races ands the self-fulfilling stereotypes will not stop until the clowns in charge of the education system stop teaching diversity. It will not stop until Hollywood stops making films that glorify the drug culture and pushing a theme of “being gangsta is cool”.
We need people who aspire to better themselve and not aspire to see how much money they can con out of the welfare department.
If people are taught to expect entitlement they will always be on the plantation.
Equality begins with self reliance not entitlement.
