With their hand holding, sidelong glances, lingering hugs, date nights and, of course, famous fist bumps, Barack and Michelle Obama have certainly made their fair share of public displays of affection. And they preach what they practice, too.
Take, for instance, a moment last month at the Clinton Global Initiative, when Obama introduced his wife as his better half. “Bill Clinton understands where I’m coming from here,” Obama said. “He knows what it’s like to be married to somebody who’s smarter, somebody who’s better looking, somebody who’s just all around a little more impressive than you are.”
“I feel grateful that Michelle so far, at least, has not run for any offices I’ve been running for,” he said pursing his lips and chuckling. “She would beat me thoroughly.”
What the words and deeds amount to is first couple as united front, in love as much as in politics, as the world will see this weekend: The pair will make a rare joint appearance on Sunday at a rally for Democratic candidates in Columbus, OH to send a message about the importance of these midterm elections –and play off their popular give and take.

The Obamas’ words and gestures may bring them closer together, but they also bring the public closer to them. As Chemistry.com chief relationship expert and Rutgers University professor Dr. Helen Fisher told POLITICO, “In one sentence, he’s in love with her. It’s a very tight knit attachment, but there are also clearly feelings of romantic love. … I study body posture and gesture and the single most important indication that someone is interested in you is if they touch you. The fist bump was not practiced. It was something they would do even if the cameras weren’t rolling.”

I remember this with the Gores; how is that divorce coming? Hell, they even had “synchronized divorces” with one of their daughters...
While I normally don’t see this as a public matter, when the dopes in question make it so, they open themselves up to a scrutiny that might otherwise have been “out-of-bounds”.
I’ve seen homeless families dressed better than that. People actually compare this crew to Camelot or the Reagans? Really?! And Michelle looks like Hillary after the Lewinsky affair. You could drive a King Ranch F-150 in between her and Dear Leader.

What a collection of photos! Good job. The only one that even looks half real is the Clintons and I think he’ll take what he can get (even Hillary if necessary) and she’ll do the same after decades of self-denial on behalf of her political ambition.
