Remember, this is a “hostess”, likely in the 18-22 year old range. These types are not typically hired for their brains. I tend to agree with the vets in the story: she was just not equipped mentally to successfully navigate the situation. The restaurant has responded well. Just another stop on the train to Idiocracy.
Hostesses will have to be retrained to make exceptions for vets and other heroes.
