Fox News Insinuates, but Investor Shrugs It Off (Saudi Prince as Second Largest Shareholdef)
New York Times ^ | October 17, 2010 | Tim Arango

Some critics of the proposed Islamic community center in Lower Manhattan, including commentators on Fox News, have linked the project to terrorism by seizing on a Saudi prince’s past financial backing of the imam at the center of the controversy.

Prince Walid bin Talal of Saudi Arabia is also the second-largest shareholder of Fox News’s parent, the News Corporation, with a stake worth more than $2 billion, which was not always disclosed on Fox News.

In fact, Prince Walid, in his first public comments about the matter, says he is actually opposed to the Islamic center’s being built in downtown Manhattan.

“I have been associated with this mosque in New York, but frankly speaking, I have nothing to do with it,” he said in an interview. “I’m not for putting that mosque there.” < Prince Walid offered a two-pronged explanation for why he was opposed to the project: he said out of respect for Islam, it does not belong at the proposed location because of its proximity to a strip club; and out of deference to the families of 9/11 victims who might feel antagonized, the Islamic center should not be near ground zero. “I respect all religions,” he said.

The prince’s charity, the Kingdom Foundation, has supported causes linked to the imam behind the project, Feisal Abdul Rauf, as another News Corporation outlet, The New York Post, has reported. But, he says, it does not support the Islamic center project near ground zero.

Saudi Prince Walid bin Talal is one of the biggest shareholders of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, owner of rabidly anti-"Ground Zero Mosque" Fox News. He's also a Muslim. Which side of the Prince's identity will win, do you think?

"I have been associated with this mosque in New York, but frankly speaking, I have nothing to do with it," he said in an interview. "I'm not for putting that mosque there."

Prince Walid offered a two-pronged explanation for why he was opposed to the project: he said out of respect for Islam, it does not belong at the proposed location because of its proximity to a strip club; and out of deference to the families of 9/11 victims who might feel antagonized, the Islamic center should not be near ground zero.

So will the House of Wahhabi Whore Master's Prince stayout of the editorial fray, not get involved in what is "fair and balanced" or seek some way to influence the harsh rhetoric against those who were at the very least indirectly responsible for 9/11?

Prince Talil is a very pragmatic guy interested only in making money and is very careful not to allow his own politics dilute his investments. If the prince had any ideas of influencing Fox News by having them take a different political point of view, the stock goes south, he loses billion$. No. That's not his way

One final point. The guy's got his own 747 until when his special edition Airbus A-380 is ready for delivery in a few years.

The Saudis are very experienced at playing chess with the West.

The Saudis’ preference - trading money and secrets to an all out hot war between the West and Islamofascist terrorists.

However, the motive is the same. Muslim influence throughout the world.

We've got a major media conglomerate like Fox with a enormous ownership stake by a Saudi investor, and that media conglomerate had established itself over the years (through both Democratic and Republican administrations) as a cheerleader for U.S. military action to topple Saddam Hussein and his Ba'athist regime in Iraq.

Does anyone else see a serious problem here?

It seems to me that insisting on 100% US ownership of all broadcast and cable media outlet would be a good first step in dismantling the lefts media near monopoly.

BBC America and several mideast based outfits are also spewing foreign news programing targeting a US audience.

They build EVERY mosque in the west through the Muslim Brotherhood. Al Waleed has major investments in Disney/ABC News, Time Warner/CNN and is very very close with Immelt - GE (NBC, MSNBC, CNBC) on multibillion deals in the Middle East.

He helped Summer Redstone (CBS/Viacom) in a variety of deals. Viacom’s VH1 has access to Indonesia to reach over 1 billion.

Bloomberg sold out NYC/USA to insure his financial data, media, TV have total access to the Middle East.

Wake up folks - this is ALL of American TV. These 6 networks control 97% of ALL the channels on TV. They all want access to various Middle Eastern and Chinese networks because it reaches $3 biilion people with trillions in wealth.

If you think they give a s*** about access to 300 million Americans with a a bankrupt financial system and bankrupt country then you are dreaming.

ALL American TV is s**t - they have sold America out and if watch it then you support them.

So the alphabet soups are rabidly and openly pro-Communist. Fox News is partly owned by Muslim interests.

Anybody else think Rush should go incorporated with EIB?

They’re not interested in “influence” in the West, just dominance.

All saudis have ties to terrorism. They cuffed us to their goat using the oil as a weapon that has long been the crux behind all problems in the Western World.

Their reign must come to an end.

Everywhere. No diplomatic immunity for terrorists or their enablers what so ever.
