Gregory Kane: O'Malley's weak pander to illegal immigrants as "new Americans"

Gregory Kane: O'Malley's weak pander to illegal immigrants as "new Americans" By: GREGORY KANE Examiner Columnist October 17, 2010 Did I hear Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, D, right during his second debate with former Republican Gov. Robert Ehrlich? Did O'Malley call illegal immigrants "new Americans"?

Good thing I recorded that debate on a DVD. I replayed it Saturday night, and O'Malley's exact quote was this, part of his response to a question about illegal immigration.

"There is this nativism rising up and this desire to blame new Americans for the problems in our economy."

Yeah, he said it. And Ehrlich was quick to pounce on the gaffe.

"If somebody breaks in my house, is that a new member of my family that night?"

At another point in the debate, Ehrlich aimed this salvo at O'Malley: "I think we have finally focused on the problem: The governor doesn't understand the fundamentals of state government."

O'Malley sure as heck doesn't understand how people who immigrate to this country get to be "new Americans." Sneaking into the country illegally -- or staying put after a visa has expired -- isn't part of the process.

Those interested in knowing what that process is need only Google the three simple words "naturalization," "process" and "American." They'll immediately see the topic "Naturalization Process, How To Become A U.S. Citizen" on the Web site uscitizenship.info/ins-citizenship-process.

Once searchers click on the link, they'll come to a page of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, USCIS for short. (In simpler times, this was the government agency known as the Immigration and Naturalization Service.)

The USCIS page lists the four steps immigrants need to take if they want to become "new Americans." Those steps are:

1. Submit a complete application.

2. Get fingerprinted.

3. Attend a USCIS interview and take tests.

4. Take the oath to become a "new American."

At least three steps of that four-step process are relatively easy for those immigrants who've entered the country legally: submitting the application, getting fingerprinted and taking the oath.

The third step has two parts, which might present a difficulty for some. Even if immigrants wishing to become naturalized citizens ace the interview, they still face the hurdle of passing the English and civics tests. But at least they have the comfort of knowing that many native-born, English-speaking Americans probably couldn't pass the darned tests either.

Illegal immigrants, almost by definition, can't participate in the four-step process. For the interview, they would have to bring identification "and any other documents that the USCIS may have requested." To even begin the process -- the application -- they would need supporting documents and two passport-size photos.

So how, as O'Malley suggested, would we "create a pathway to citizenship" for illegal immigrants? Why, by having all 12 million of them bypass the four-step process, of course.

That's precisely what those who support a "pathway to citizenship" are proposing. That's why Americans should reject such foolishness out of hand.

The phrase O'Malley should have used in lieu of "new Americans" is "new Marylanders." The nation's leading sanctuary state east of the Mississippi has created its own criteria for state citizenship. And it also has four steps:

1. Enter the country, preferably illegally.

2. Whine about being a victim even though you've broken our nation's laws. In fact, make no reference at all to your breaking the law. Talk about your "rights" instead.

3. Pin the racist tag on anyone who opposes your flagrant breaking of the law.

4. This is the most important step of all: Vote Democratic.

"New Americans" indeed. If there were an award given for the most craven display of caving in to an interest group, O'Malley would win it hands down.

“New Americans” = NOT Americans.

In Alexandria, VA, our mayor calls them “international citizens”.

Now there’s some real, first-class pretzel logic.

Nice going, Mayor Euille!

Watch the state run media start using this term. Fits right in with little Barry as leader of the world.

Seems to me that it would be political suicide to encourage more job-stealing when unemployment is 10%:

“Twelve Americans are murdered every day by illegal aliens, according to statistics released by Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa. If those numbers are correct, it translates to 4,380 Americans murdered annually by illegal aliens. That’s 21,900 since Sept. 11, 2001.
Total U.S. troop deaths in Iraq as of last week were reported at 2,863. Total U.S. troop ... deaths in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan during the five years of the Afghan campaign are currently at 289, according to the Department of Defense.
While King reports 12 Americans are murdered daily by illegal aliens, he says 13 are killed by drunk illegal alien drivers – for another annual death toll of 4,745. That’s 23,725 since Sept. 11, 2001.
While no one – in or out of government – tracks all U.S. accidents caused by illegal aliens, the statistical and anecdotal evidence suggests many of last year’s 42,636 road deaths involved illegal aliens.
King also reports eight American children are victims of sexual abuse by illegal aliens every day – a total of 2,920 annually.

Based on a one-year in-depth study, Deborah Schurman-Kauflin of the Violent Crimes Institute of Atlanta estimates there are about 240,000 illegal immigrant sex offenders in the United States who have had an average of four victims each. She analyzed 1,500 cases from January 1999 through April 2006 that included serial rapes, serial murders, sexual homicides and child molestation committed by illegal immigrants”

All I can say to the “new American” politician is “JUMP!”

Foreign and Illegal Immigrant Money Funding Democrats

The Obama White House and Democrats charged recently that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other organizations are using foreign money in the 2010 campaign. In his Washington Post column today, Marc Thiessen points out that the Democrats are getting even more from foreign sources. An excerpt:

“The U.S. Chamber says it receives about $100,000 from its affiliates abroad (out of an operating budget of about $200 million), none of it used for political campaigns. Compare that to one of the largest labor unions in America, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which is spending lavishly to elect Democrats. The SEIU claims 100,000 members in Canada. According to SEIU’s 2008 constitution, dues include $7.65 per month per member that must be sent to the SEIU International in the United States. This means that the SEIU takes in nearly $9.2 million per year from foreign nationals — almost 10 times the amount the Chamber receives from its affiliates abroad.

Is any foreign money being used to fund the SEIU’s anti-Republican campaign efforts? According to the Wall Street Journal, “The Service Employees International Union, one of the nation’s fastest-growing labor unions, acknowledges that it can’t be certain that foreign nationals haven’t contributed to its $44 million political budget to support pro-labor Democrats.” The SEIU is not the only union that takes in money from foreign members. According to the Canadian Department of Human Resources and Skills Development, the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers has 280,000 Canadian members; the United Food and Commercial Workers has more than 245,000; the Teamsters has more than 108,000; the Laborers’ International Union of North America has more than 68,000; and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers has more than 57,000. How much do these foreign union members send to the United States? If the constitutions of their unions are anything like SEIU’s, it could be tens of millions of dollars. Is any of that money being used to help elect Democrats this November?

Unions have another source of foreign cash: dues from illegal immigrants. In an April 2007 speech, uncovered by the conservative Web site RedState, SEIU Executive Vice President Eliseo Medina boasts how his union’s rolls are loaded with illegal immigrants. Medina declares proudly: “SEIU is the largest union of immigrant workers in the country, and a number of them are undocumented. But let me hasten to add, these are not just Latinos. In our membership are Eastern Europeans, Irish, Polish, Indians, Chinese — the whole world is represented among the undocumented and also in our membership. We also represent American-born workers, legal residents.”

The only reason that Ehrlich was able to become a 1-term Governor of Maryland ... a job he did very well, BTW .... was that for once, the DOJ sat on the massive vote fraud in Baltimore and its environs.

O'Malley won when that presence was removed. Bush's Fault. Somehow, I don't quite see Holder and the Mombasa Moonbeam taking strong action against Baltimore vote fraud.

I am very sure that Baltimore voters who registered in 1789 are still on the rolls. I know they'll be back. If only they would only vote once! Maryland is also now overrun with illegals, registered illegals.

Face it. The GOP has given the Democrats a permanent Vote Fraud Pass. We are going to go through a period of the development of a Third Party, with the concomitant split giving the Democrats a great chance in 2012.

May God help our Republic.

"There is this nativism rising up and this desire to blame new Americans for the problems in our economy."

"NEW AMERICANS?"

I am seeing this crap more often now. This is the mindset of the criminal illegal aliens. They have gotten away with their ongoing criminal lifestyle for so long they believe they are "owed" citizenship in the form of an amnesty.

Kiss my azz, the little grinning criminal illegal aliens are LONG overdue for a rodeo style roundup.

Undocumented citizen" has been popping up in other places. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, whose portfolio includes immigration, was asked at a conference in February about congressional restrictions that made it hard for social-service agencies to serve "undocumented citizens." Chertoff didn't call the questioner on his inaccuracy...

The news of Georgia's new university policies was shattering for Javier, particularly after learning the Senate stalled the long-awaited yet contentious DREAM Act, which would grant certain illegal citizens legal status if they were to complete some college.

Then the is the case of Letecia Chavez, who was bombed to the gills with her kid in the car, and went head on into another car. It happened in Portchester (land of 6 votes, remember that?), and she doesn't have a DL, so I'm immediately thinking that she is an illegal alien.

News 12 has a reporter named Kristin Thorne that reported Ms. Chavez is NOT an illegal alien, but an undocumented Citizen!

This crap with the criminal illegal aliens will not end well.
