The military is accepting openly gay recruits for the first time in the nation's history, even as it tries in the courts to slow the movement to abolish its "don't ask, don't tell" policy.
Some gay activist groups were planning to send people to enlist at recruiting stations to test the Pentagon's Tuesday announcement.
Meanwhile, a federal judge in California whose ruling last week brought the 17-year policy the closest yet to being overturned was likely to reject the government's latest effort to halt her order telling the military to stop enforcing the law.

Pentagon spokeswoman Cynthia Smith said recruiters had been given top-level guidance to accept applicants who say they are gay.

Duncan Hunter’s statement today on this atrocity:
The United States Military has performed superbly in Iraq and Afghanistan, demonstrating unprecedented courage and ingenuity in the war against islamic terrorists. A major characteristic of America’s military is the bedrock of Judeo-Christian beliefs and heritage, which maintains unit cohesiveness, which in turn translates into combat effectiveness.
Now, liberal extremists, backed by a single activist judge, a Clinton appointee, are trying to inject homosexuals into the ranks of America’s fighting forces. This is something that our troops strongly object to.
This is the same homosexual lobby which is attempting, through a judicial fiat, to undo what 31 States (out of 31 States!) have rejected, when they voted to disallow homosexual marriage.
The US Military, and the Secretary of Defense in particular, should be moving quickly to prevent an action which can only result in the debilitation of America’s fighting forces. Political correctness and liberal social activism must be blocked, particularly as it applies to our Nation’s military readiness and cohesion.
Every Republican in office that cares about the quality and capability of America’s military, should be taking action today to stop this disaster, this dangerous action which has emanated from a single activist District Judge.
But maybe these guys will have flat feet instead/ wink wink
I still don’t understand how a Federal judge can make a decision that is binding on the military. I thought only Congress can make these decisions.
As a 24 year veteran I can unequivocably say - this will not go or end well.

I don’t understand if it was so easy. Why didn’t any group try this before? Why now?
I hope the services document everything concerning performance of not only the gay recruits but also the other service personnel who are training with the gay recruits. I’ll bet basic training will be a mess.

Because leftists in congress, the judiciary and the media have never been so flagrantly corrupt before.
They aren't even giving a nod to the Contitution, nor convention, nor public opinion at this point, and the media has never been so anxious to kiss their secular marxist behinds.
1. They had to have a judge in a position who they knew would overturn it.
2. Bush would have appealed it to the Supreme Court where they are far from certain from winning.
3. Obastard won’t appeal it, therefore giving the queers and fags a win by default.
The BEHAVIOR will still be cause for separation from the service, unless they change the UCMJ.
When someone is writing the history of the decline and fall of the United States 1000 years from now, they should note this date in their book.
My military days are long in the past but when I think of this today, I go absolutely wild. I never thought it would ever come to the day when I actually hoped there would be a rev 2 here, now I am hoping it happens in my life time. I am beyond the minority (in the broad sense, not racial) sense totalitarionism we have now. Moral and Correct have no majority or minority sides, they are constant truths. If we need a new constitution that states this explicitedly, let it be so.
And when this judge is overturned, what happens to the gay recruits? Stupid.
The foul sodomites and their evil enablers will be celebrating the destruction of the American Military.
They’ll be able to reject just about all of them for their use of amyl nitrite.
