Democrats Jerry Brown and Barbara Boxer hold single-digit leads over their Republican opponents, according to the latest Public Policy Institute of California poll.
The survey, which was conducted between Oct. 10-17, polled 1,067 likely California voters.
The poll shows Brown's lead expanding over Republican Meg Whitman in their gubernatorial contest, while in the U.S. Senate race, Republican Carly Fiorina seems to be slowly closing the gap between her and incumbent Boxer. Brown holds a 44%-36% lead over Whitman. Boxer's lead over Fiorina is 43%-38%.
In the last PPIC survey, Whitman and Brown were in a statistical dead heat, with Whitman holding a 38%-37% lead over Brown. Boxer held a 42%-35% lead over Fiorina in the last survey.
Both races have a high number of undecided voters. In the governor's race, 16% of those surveyed said they have not yet decided who to vote for. In the Senate race, 13% said they remain undecided.
Brown's growing support seems to be a function of the Democratic base returning to the party's standard bearer. Brown's support among Democrats has jumped to 76%, up from 63% in September, the poll found. Brown has also made inroads among independent voters, according to the poll. Whitman enjoys the support of 37% of independents, while Brown has 36% support. In September, independent voters favored Whitman 38%-30%.

If Whitless loses, then it will dwarf Arianna’s gay husband’s attempt to buy a political office.
I find it curious that that with less than 2 weeks to go before election day, there is suddenly a flurry of polls out from Democrats groups showing Dems with a marginal lead.
No one could compete with the unions on that score - they buy every election in California...with your money.
GOP tide is going to wash over even Calif!
That is curious isn’t it...
She doesn’t just have to fight jerry brown, but the
unions as well. Why is it that when someone rich
uses their own money, they’re trying to buy the
election, yet when it’s other people’s money, they’re
not?
This is a disaster for the Dims. The big mo is on the right with enthusiasm. Can you imagine of Obummer loses Cali to the crazy right wingers. The left will melt down.
I humbly suggest a conservative could win.
I would rather someone attempt to “buy” the election with their own money, rather than using “union” ie, my money.
This coming from the L.A. Times, I’m sure it’s even better than this!
Anytime a RAT in CA is polling even, they gonna LOSE!
l.a. times = Secret Sauce = oversampling by about 10/20 %
My hope is the Tsunami hits the East coast hard and early and demoralizes the dems in last 2-3 hours of voting on the west coast.
In general, would you say you are satisfied or not satisfied with your choices of candidates in the election for governor on November 2nd? Likely voters only | All Likely Voters | Party | Latinos | | Dem Rep Ind | Satisfied | 42% | 50% 38% 30% | 43% Not satisfied | 55 | 46 58 68 | 54 Dont know | 3 | 4 4 2 | 3

The Rats are shovel-ready for the dust bin of history.
Only 58% of GOPers? Now why did she win her primary again?
Cuz there were an even greater number of Republicans who didn’t like the primary choices for Governor, either.
And of course, that little thing about $80 million dollars didn’t hurt.
this is too funny—one of those demonic pictures of Obama
as Rush mentioned funny :)
GOP wins because of motivated conservative turnout.
