Codrescu is no news personality, nor does he pretend to be.
He is nothing more than an professional academic with an

One should be able to disbelive in ‘the Rapture’ if they wish without being vilified. It was the ‘leaving the world
a better place’ phrase that puts Codrescu in the ‘hater’ category.

Well, I don’t agree with his statement but at the same time I don’t see it as that reprehensible. Look at it this way, the rapture believers came out with the “Left Behind” books and movies, implying how bad things will be for those who aren’t “raptured” once the rapturees disappear. Isn’t it fair game for those who don’t believe to say they think they’ll be just fine if all these people vanish?
The complaints against his statement seem like a case of “they can dish it out but they can’t take it” to me.
