I think Grayson would be in trouble if this was a normal year... Rising to the level of Crazy is always a problem.

In the 52nd Congress (elected with Cleveland in 1892), the Democrats had a 218-127 edge over the Republicans in the House (with 11 seats held by others, presumably Populists), and a 44-38 edge in the Senate (with 3 "other").

After the 1894 election, the Republicans controlled both Houses--244-105-7 in the House and 43-39-6 in the Senate. They went from being down almost 2-1 in the House to having a better than 2-1 advantage.

The reason for the turnaround: the Panic of 1893 (that is, economic depression).
