If they won’t defund it than the next republican President should appoint Michael Savage to run the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

With all due respect to Mr. Gutfield’s comic point, I am quite confident that we have enough examples of subsidized failure to keep us busy for many years.

Rather than continuing to fund NPR, I would rather read about it in a history book. Another chapter could be devoted to Air America.

I cannot wait for the next “Pledge Drive” when they will give me a toll-free number to call them - and tell them WHY I WILL NOT be donating.

WTF? To anyone who thinks that funding NPR is a good idea, I’d like to ask where in the Constitution does the federal government derive its power to build, operate or finance a public radio network?

We have no need of a government subsidized "news" organization.

The government already has the bully pulpit, no need for "news" at public anything unless it consists of reading and showing press and video releases.

I don't care how little comes from the taxpayers it is too much. Further, the "grants", subsidies, underwriters and the like, tax breaks, discounts etc, all need to be unwound and removed.

The comment about Juan's psychiatrist was childish, insulting and probably actionable from a legal standpoint. The woman has no business being in charge of anything in which the taxpayers have a stake.

Military adage: “Never surrender any advantage to your enemy.”

Do not underestimate NPR. They have 797 radio stations across the US, pouring out their propaganda often to people that have few other sources for “news”.

They get special treatment from the FCC, getting very valuable bandwidth allocations, likely worth hundreds of millions of dollars, that could be going to far more worthy enterprises.

And it should not be understated that this is taxpayer money going to support one of the party propaganda organs of the Democratic National Committee.

Nor should it be forgotten that not long ago, liberals, the left, and the Democrat party had a virtual government monopoly on the media, because of the corrupt “fairness doctrine”. With that gone, they tried to reestablish their monopoly through business acquisitions, that eliminated huge numbers of independent and local media.

So the bottom line is that NPR, as well as PBS, and the National Endowment for the Arts, need to be eliminated entirely, or completely restructured so that they get neither government funding or other government supports than any competing commercial enterprise.
