These people are shameless
An Alaskan judge who was appointed by Senator Lisa Murkowskis father ruled today that personal information from conservative Joe Millers past must be released to the public.
The Anchorage Daily News reported:
A judge ruled today that the Fairbanks North Star Borough must release personnel records of Senate candidate Joe Miller.
In an unusual Saturday hearing, retired Superior Court Judge Winston Burbank ruled that the publics right to know about candidates outweighed Millers right to privacy.
I hold that although Mr. Miller has a legitimate expectation of privacy in those documents, Mr. Millers right to privacy is indeed outweighed by the publics significant interest in the background of a public figure who is running for the U.S. Senate, the judge said. A U.S. senator, he noted, is among the highest elected offices in the nation.
Burbank ordered that nothing actually will be released until Tuesday afternoon, however, to allow for the ruling to be appealed to the Alaska Supreme Court.
The judge said a handful of documents being sought would not be released, and some would be redacted.
The case was brought by a group of Alaska news media organizations, which have been trying since summer to see borough documents concerning Millers employment as a part-time borough attorney
The hearing drew about three dozen people to the otherwise empty state courthouse in Downtown Fairbanks. Current borough Mayor Luke Hopkins watched from the gallery. A legislative aide to Sen. Lisa Murkowski sat in the crowd, along with a News-Miner editor and a man who was shooshed for shouting that the judge was an old appointee of Gov. Frank Murkowski.
Judge Winston Burbank was picked for a District Court judgeship by Governor Frank Murkowski in 2003. Governor Murkowskis daughter, Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AL), was defeated by conservative Joe Miller in the Republican primary and is running against him as a write-in candidate in the general election.
Retired Superior Court Judge Winston Burbank (on right) opened the state courthouse on Saturday to rule in favor of the Murkowski campaign and far left Alaska media outlets.
So shouldn’t we expect the same for the person’s seeking to be President of the United States?
“So shouldnt we expect the same for the persons seeking to be President of the United States?”
I would think... And I believe it’s time we fight fire with fire, and start adopting these tactics to investigate the opposition.
I agree on using the left’s tactics against them...
In this one, though, it’s important to recognize this is a state court, not a federal court, and the judge should have probably recused himself due to the link to Murkowski.
Also quite use to the Calif owned left wing newspapers.
Me thinks Alaskans see through all of this garbage, are offended by it, and will still elect Joe Miller. I don't hear anybody asking questions about Joe Miller's character; but they sure hate Lisa Murkowski over all of these games and will hold her responsible on Nov 2nd. Don't believe all these close polls one minute, people are pissed about where our great Nation is headed and will vote to send it back in the other direction pretty quick.
Alaska, you will live as slaves with this real witch in power.
Too bad we don’t seem to have savy lawyers that could use rulings like this as “precedent” to reveal the past private lives of Presidents.
Now let’s see Obama’s records in the name of the publics right to know.
If it outweighs Miller's right to privacy and to be secure in his person from unwarranted searches...
the say way not 0bama!
What does Miller have to hide? I have little sympathy for politicians trying to hide their past.
Maybe Miller knows that this drama requires him to attempt keep something private, and then after it becomes public against his will, voters will see that Miller was attempting to hide something that was irrelevant to the campaign and harmful or embarrassing to other people, and that he did the honorable thing, and that Murkowski is the bad guy.
I can dream, can’t I?
You know what I’m wondering about? All these Freepers terrified that Miller might not win. They should worry more about themselves living like slaves. Here where I call home, no income, sales, property, or any other taxes. No organized local govt, no law enforcement, no services, no regulations or comp planning. No high costs of living when the land & river provides either. They’ll never starve me out, ha ha. Some of those conservatives worried about Miller should look around their own state of slavery in the lower 48.
Say what?? Want to try that again? Thanks.
I would expect nothing less from a Murkowski politician.
“What does Miller have to hide? I have little sympathy for politicians trying to hide their past.”
—Well, what can I say? Joe Biden was caught plagiarizing in law school, Obozo was caught lying about his Illinois state senate record (and hid almost all of his personal records), had tons of unpaid parking tickets as a law student, etc. There are things in Lisa Murkowski’s past...
I don’t know all the details, but at the end of the day Joe Miller’s employer didn’t see it as important enough to make him lose his job. So if it wasn’t big deal then, it isn’t a big deal now.
Looks like the active judges wanted no part of this investigation:
.........
Recently retired Judge Winston Burbank started a process today that could resolve the case ahead of the Nov. 2 election. Burbank was brought in to hear the case after several sitting judges recused themselves or were disqualified from the case.......

Anyone checked to see what political contributions he has made in the past?
Alaskans on this thread..I need some information. Did lisa murkowski attend school in Alaska or out of state? Where was she born?
Lisa was born in Ketchikan, AK.
She graduated from Georgetown U. and Willmette U. College of Law.
I read on another thread she had to take the bar exam 5 times to pass.
