South Korean media reported Sunday that Seoul and Washington have called off plans to hold a major joint naval exercise in the Yellow Sea this month.
Yonhap news agency quoted government sources as saying the exercise involving a U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carrier has been postponed to avoid tensions on the Korean peninsula during the upcoming G20 summit in Seoul.
There was no official confirmation of the reports.
The Chinese government has fiercely opposed the deployment of the U.S. aircraft carrier George Washington in the regional waters.

Well that’ll show ‘em. Jeez.
The concept of “face” means everything in Asian culture. We have lost ours.
I’ve got two things to say on this matter. First, the weather in the Yellow Sea completely blows. Second, the reason I know is that two carriers ago the Japan based battle group used to go to the Yellow Sea every February.
As the deficits, debt and unemployment get the attention, Obama is steadily bowing and retreating all over the world.
Three incidents in the last two weeks.
1. Obama endorsed Iran taking part in Karzai and Taliban negotiations ...wtf
2. Obama gave wink and nod to Venezuela to go ahead with nuclear program.
3. Now this backing down in Asia because China wasn’t happy.
The man is a freaking traitor to this country.
Well this really does have to do with the ‘International Financial summit’ coming up Nov. 11, 12. in Seol. Things are expected to not only be disgused but unlike the recent IMF and G-20 meetings this one is supposed to “decide” specifics from these former meetings. One thing to be announced, it appears a shuffling of countries who will get voting rights and or leverage. This will have to do with trade etc...a real sticky point on the international stage now so nobody wants anything to rock this meeting off course.
