If you read the analyses cited in the snopes story, the ratios cited indicate republican-contributing dealers were more likely to close. None of the cited analyses seem to directly address the point about bias towards leaving dem-contributing=dealerships open in competitive areas. It even misrepresents the ratios in the FOX analysis, treating 8:12 as equivalent to 10:14 (and it rounds the values too).
This Snopes article seems to shade or choose support to yield the desired conclusion. I would say the issue is still open and Snopes does not add clarity.
I’m sorry to say that I agree with you 100%. My strong inclination to avoid both union and Chinese goods makes shopping a difficult experience.
My family has suffered enormously from the destruction of GM and we resent GM, Obama, Congress, and the UAW very much. The UAW is an economic terrorist and extortion organization - organized crime - and I simply can’t express my loathing and contempt for it. It should be smashed with an iron fist.
Good article.
“Snopes says this is a FALSE story.”
Well, that settles it I guess... No agenda in that organization. Their kind of like the supreme court. The final arbitrators.
One week before the election, that fact alone needs to be in every Republican candidate's ad campaign.
The McClarty part of the story is true. He also made out like a bandit in the natural gas industry and nearly broke that company doing it.
He was crooked way back when.
Fox News also reported that this was not true.
If this was true, I think we would have heard more about it since the article was originally published over a year ago.
“Good article.”
Thanks.
then you drive the dollar to all-time lows against the Yen and Korean currency and....VOILA....
FactCheck is funded by the Annenberg Foundation, they also funded Bill Ayers in the Chicago Annenberg Foundation, where Obama and Ayers worked together.
Wait until they apply this criteria to healthcare.
“Your grandma is a registered Republican? Sorry, she won’t be getting that hip replacement.”
I never claimed support or trust of Snopes. That is why I prefaced my comment with “FWIW”
However, FOX has debunked this story, Drudge won't touch it, and I have seen no data to support it.
The Wall Street Journal covered it extensively and never claimed there was political bias.

WND started this rumor as far as I can tell, which is one of the problems I have with WND. I have found them to only be partially reliable.
But Fox News is not.
Not sure what happened to the links, but here they are again.

“The Heritage Foundation, not a liberal think tank, also debunked this claim. Here is a table from their in-depth analysis. It shows no correlation between closings and political contributions.”

I respect the Heritage Foundation, but they are wrong.
Nice graph here, but....
This does not show the SALES VOLUMES of these closed dealerships.
Far more successful, money making GOP delaerships were closed over less profitable democrat dealerships.
How do you explain that?
I did.
While charges were made that the closures were politically biased, I have never seen numbers that PROVE it. These do.
Even as an old article, many thanks for the post BabyGene.
