Sorry, I find that perfectly acceptable.
If she doesn’t believe in God, including the phrase is hypocritical - and dishonest. The appropriate thing to do is leave out that phrase, or not say the Pledge at all. If she wants to pledge allegiance to our flag & country yet not be a hypocrite, the omission is logical.
BTW, “Under God” was added June 14, 1954.
A little pledge history here: http://www.homeofheroes.com/hallofheroes/1st_floor/flag/1bfc_pledge.html
intentionally omitting it is one thing...bold face lying aout it is another....if you have a belief then stand up for it and take the flak that comes with it....the heat only gets worse when you try to lie after the fact...she should have just passed on leading the pledge to begin with....

I agree with you about leaving out the phrase if she doesn’t believe in God. However, because she’s an elected member of Congress I also believe that she must say the Pledge of Allegiance to the country that she has been elected to represent. Absent that, she should tell us to what country she owes her allegiance so that her constituents can send her packing.
Also, MN 4th is shown as a SAFE Dem seat on Real Clear Politics (one of only 123 such seats currently.) If this video gains traction it could put the seat in play, especially if she emphasizes her religion (Catholic, according to one comment here I think) to any degree whatsoever on the campaign trail. A lot of Midwestern politicians frequent the church dinners so common in the fall, for instance. Obvious religious hypocrisy would weigh against her, I suspect.
Anyone clued Drudge in on this video yet? I’d bet he’d run with it, provided it’s not years old.
I was wrong. The source of the Catholic comment was from the article running the video where the writer states: “Oh, did I mention that she likes to brag about her Catholic faith when running for re-election?”
