NRSC drops $3 million in California
National Journal ^ | October 25, 2010

The National Republican Senatorial Committee is dropping a massive $3 million TV ad buy in California this week, a sure sign that Republicans believe they have a good shot at knocking off Sen. Barbara Boxer (D).

The new spending brings the NRSC’s Golden State commitment to nearly $8 million, all in support of former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina's (R) campaign.

The ad buy comes a day after a public poll shows Boxer inching ahead. A Los Angeles Times/USC poll showed Boxer opening up an 8-point lead -- 50 percent to 42 percent. That number tracks with private Democratic surveys that show Boxer ahead.

Republicans are pushing back on that poll, however, saying their internal numbers show the race much tighter. Republicans are conducting two tracking polls in California, and committee sources say both showed Fiorina only 1 point down at the end of last week. Meanwhile, the Republican polls show Boxer mired in the mid-40s, a dangerous position for any incumbent.

Makes me sick that Mark Kirk could be “our” 51st vote. I can’t see any good coming from that.

Well, really it would be Kirk-Snowe-Collins plus Brown, plus Corker-Graham, et al, as the 46th-51st votes.

Looks like they’ve run ads there, and a number of other groups are also running ads in that race, like Crossroads GPS.

Yes indeed - as evidence, look at the ads they’ve run and/or are running for Joe Miller in Alaska, Ken Buck in Colorado, John Raese in West Virginia, Rand Paul in Kentucky, Dino Rossi in Washington, Pat Toomey in Pennsylvania, etc.

They have and are running ads to support Marco Rubio, Sharron Angle, Dino Rossi, Mark Kirk, Rand Paul, Joe Miller, Pat Toomey, Ken Buck, etc. In other words, every race that is close / competitive. There’s plenty of criticism for the NRSC’s past shenanigans - adding imaginary criticisms on top of that isn’t warranted - unless every Senate candidate is a RINO besides Christine O’Donnell, including Sharron Angle, Joe Miller, Ken Buck, etc. Besides which, O’Donnell has raised tons of cash - much more than her opponent - so lack of NRSC involvement in DE should have no bearing on whether or not she has a fully competitive media campaign to support her candidacy.

Doesn’t matter all the GOP leadership groups ignore supposedly ‘safe’ dem districts. When with a little push a district like this could be flipped when times are this tuff. Specially when the GOP candidate is a black woman, going up against a white pelosi/reid career pol clone like steve cohen. I hear to many grumbles in the community about cohen arrogance, and NO one wants more taxes, they are unhappy about the illegals taking their jobs, the bad schools. The time is ‘ripe’ in Memphis for a change for that seat.
