Rasmussen : Connecticut Senate: Blumenthal (D) Stretches Lead Over McMahon (R) (56%-43%)
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 10/25/2010

State Attorney General Richard Blumenthal again holds a double-digit lead over Republican opponent Linda McMahon in Connecticut’s U.S. Senate race.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Connecticut shows the longtime Democratic state official with 56% support, his best showing since early June. McMahon claims 43%of the vote. One percent (1%) prefer some other candidate, and another one percent (1%) are undecided.

Less than two weeks ago after the candidates’ second televised debate, Blumenthal posted a much narrower 51% to 46% lead. But the new findings shift this race from Leans Democrat to Solid Democrat in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Senate Balance of Power rankings.

Despite the ups and downs of the contest, including the New York Times’ disclosure that Blumenthal has embellished his military record in public comments over the years, the Democrat has led consistently in polling since January.

Why don’t the rich CT residents just write obama a check for half of their wealth.

We do....in taxes!

I’m in CT and I hope she wins, but I must have received upweards of 50 large, 4-color mailers for LM in the past 6 months. All uninspired mushy blather. Nothing creative, clever, hard-hitting or specific on the issues. 3eally makes me think she’s had mediocre and rapacious consultants who have made a mint while mishandling their deep-pockets candidate. I hope turnout can make up the difference.

States like CA and CT are hopelessly braindead.

Ct like California is a liberal septic tank that will neer be pumped. Liberals will win every time and that’s just the way it is.

Same thing in Delaware, New York, etc.

To win we need to be able to draw a lot of Democratic voters to the Republican side, and to accomplish this will usually require a polished, relatively moderate (particularly on social issues) candidate to represent us.

A state like California is probably hopeless no matter what we do. That state will have to collapse before Californians open their eyes - and even then they may cling to the nanny state and continue begging for bailout money. There are a generation or two of voters now in CA that are just utterly wedded to the social welfare state.

Don’t give up hope. Remember Scott Brown in Massachusetts. He was way behind and won!

How can the people in CT sleep at night if they even consider voting for this slimy excuse for a person?

Because most of them don't think there is anything wrong with lying, that's a way of life with them.

Decent people need to migrate out of these cesspits.

WHAT the....??? I have a hard time believing this poll, but it IS Rasmussen. I have no explanation for this. The energy here in Connecticut is definitely on Linda's side from what I've seen.

FWIW, I've been polled by Rasmussen and Quinnipiac in the past, but not this year.

Didn’t Rasmussen punt and not make a prediction on the Brown-Coakley race earlier this year?

I know Rasmussen tends to be accurate, but the way people take his word as truth...eh...I don’t.

We’ll find out in 8 days.

These are NY rejects who would have voted for Schumer if they still lived there. Sheep that pull one lever.

They move there to avoid state income tax, but don’t pay attention to that. Libs are for the little people.

You may be right... I can't remember clearly though, do you?

All the 'RATs in CT are running with the same theme: "Republicans are going to privatize Social Security and Medicare. Dick Blumenthal, John Larson, et al, will PROTECT Social Security and Medicare." Just heard yet another radio ad for Little Dickie Blumenthal with that same LIE. Rasmussen must be polling a bunch of scared seniors, that's my only guess...

Looks like MA is more conservative than CT.

Sad.

Yes, I think Rasmussen did punt on that one.

The problem is that far too many people in this country vote for a living.

Relax - next week it (hopefully) plays out and the good (or better) folks win. Then the real work begins.

Connecticut once used to be a Republican state, but it has lost so much of its middle class over the past forty years that Democrats (of the incredibly wealthy and perpetually poor varieties) predominate.

Either way, they have no consciences to which to appeal. Really. There is no scandal from which a Democrat cannot recover because their morality is presumed to be absent by the electorate, who are neither surprised nor disappointed when it turns out to be so. They'll go right back to pulling the lever for the creep every time. Trust me: I'm from Massachusetts. I know.

Linda McMahon typifies the stupidity of Tea Partiers. I hope she loses. She's no conservative.

Why does Blumenthal have such a big lead? Or is it a bogus poll?
