Aaaaaand it’s not just any Congresswoman, but Minnesota’s own Betty McCollum, who’s defending the seat against a strong challenge from Republican Teresa Collett in the 4th CD this year. Normally, I’d let this slide, but in this case McCollum wanted to lead the chamber in saying the Pledge of Allegiance. If she objects to the “under God” portion of the pledge, then why volunteer for the job? But this is from quite a while ago as well:

Not really relevant. There is no religious requirement for holding office. If she is an atheist and doesn’t want to acknowledge God, that is her prerogative.
Government is banned from having a religious requirement for office. But voters reserve the right to consider all aspects of candidates' character. Apparently she hasn't come out on what her religion is. Wikipedia has her as a Roman Catholic with question marks.
If she is an atheist, then voters have the right, even the duty, to consider whether or not that implies a value system difference. If she is not an atheist, then just what God does she worship? And what values does that imply? If she is Roman Catholic then why did she omit God? Is she Roman Catholic for political appearances only? And if so, what does that imply about her character and values?
Does Teresa Collett have a chance??
I knew her in a previous life. I had no idea she was running for Congress!!!
So? Does she not sing “God Bless America” as a form of protest also?
Just did a little checking, she apparently brags about being a “good Catholic” during campagins.
and yet the Dems get so uptight whenever anybody suggests they are godless.Like their black Messiah who is clearly not a natural born citizen so too the rank rank and file.
My statement may not have across well. If she chooses not to say “under God”, then, as you say, that is between her and her constituents, but there is no constitutional requirement that she believe or not believe.
Her constituents will have to decide if it is relevant.
