The Maine Republican senator says most Mainers and most Americans want policies that come from the center, not from the far right or far left.
Polls show Republicans, energized by the tea party movement, could sweep Democrats out of power in the U.S. House and gain on them in the Senate. In Maine, a new poll out today, shows GOP candidate Dean Scontras gaining on Democratic incumbent Congresswoman Chellie Pingree.
But Maine Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe says most Mainers, and most Americans, want policies that come from the center, not from the far right, or the far left:
"I understand why people are upset, I understand many of the issues that the tea party has raised in terms of fiscal responsibility and debt and mounting deficits and worrying about future generations," she says. "Frankly, we haven't done our jobs well here in Washington and that disturbs me."
Snowe says politicians in and out of office have lost touch with what she calls the "sensible center." She says they've stopped listening to their political opponents and are paying attention only to those people who agree with their views. Snowe says the trend won't benefit Maine, or the nation.

Feeling a little heat there Olympia. Hehehehehe.
Yeah, that must be why so many moderates are being thrown out of office.
Olympia, shove it up your smelly Obama.
Pound sand, Olympia.
That's why we're getting rid of you and your ilk.
Olympia’s first steps to admitting and joining the Democrats formally.
Dingbat.
“Yeah, that must be why so many moderates are being thrown out of office.”
I understand what you are saying, but I don’t think it is moderates who are being thrown out of office. I think there has been such a shift in the political landscape that what is being called ‘far right’ is actually the center. Currently what is being called ‘moderate’ is someone who would have been a left-leaning democrat twenty years ago.
Olympia Snowe is personally responsible for the OBAMACARE debacle. Without her vote, it never would have made it out of committee. IT WOULD HAVE DIED IN COMMITTEE. She gave Ben Nelson political cover because he is a RAT in a red state. She is NOT in the center. SHE IS THE BIGGEST BACKSTABBING RINO IN CONGRESS.
SHE IS!! OBAMACARE!!!!
SHE NEEDS TO BE BEATEN IN THE PRIMARY BY A TEA PARTY CANDIDATE. in 2012!!!!!!!
she said americans want neither policies from the far right or left,
then, why did she vote for obama’s leftist legislation?
We need someome from Maine who will kick leftist A$$.
Olympia is an idiot. She wouldn't recognize a Marxist or a Fascist even if he was entering her from behind.
In short, Olympia, " YOU ARE SCREWED."
Olympia....see who wins and THEN we’ll talk.

I really don’t think politicians like Snow actually understand what “far-left” and “far right” mean. They along with the whole modern American political class seem to have their own points of reference, different from the rest of the country.
Here in Maine, after Nov 2nd, and winter comes along, we will start;
..........SNOWE REMOVAL......
Very good point. And the longer they are in DC, the more susceptible to the GROUPTHINK. Hell, they even convinced Joe Biden that he was intelligent. They are all SO much smarter than us.
I understand that Sarah is going to camp out “up home”!
