Pro-Life Independent Tom Tancredo Surges to Virtual Tie in Colorado Gov. Race

DENVER, Colorado, October 25, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The race for Colorado’s governorship now shows a virtual tie between former U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, a pro-life 3rd party candidate, and pro-abortion Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, a Democrat.

Tancredo, a staunch pro-life, pro-family advocate known for his anti-illegal-immigration views, has surged into a dead heat with Hickenlooper, now that GOP candidate Dan Maes campaign has collapsed amid allegations of campaign finance abuse and flip-flopping on the issues.

Running on the American Constitution Party (ACP) ticket, Tancredo now picks up 43 percent of the vote, according to a poll of 1067 likely voters by Magellan Data and Mapping Strategies. Hickenlooper (D) leads by one point at 44 percent, while Maes trails in third at a meager 9 percent. The poll has a +/- 3 percent margin of error.

Magellan reveals that Tancredo is snapping up the support of most registered Republicans and has an edge over Hickenlooper when it comes to Independent voters. Seventy-eight percent of GOP voters have lined up behind Tancredo, abandoning Maes (15 percent), and 46 percent of Independents support Tancredo over Hickenlooper (38 percent).

This is the most interesting situation I find, based on FR. TT has been IN FAVOR; OUT OF FAVOR; IN FAVOR; OUT OF FAVOR; and finally IN FAVOR so often over the past few years it’s boggling.

I do hope he wins tho.

And what is even more fun is that the Colorado ‘pub party becomes a minor party if it falls below 10% in the governors race. Way down on the next ballot

Lest any Leftist claim that Tancredo is some kind of "racist" because of his stance on illegal immigration, remember that he is among the few who have taken a stand against genocide in Africa:

...and this, gentlemen, is the difference between Politicus Republicanus and Politicus Conservativus. For the former, this election is all about keeping Maes above 10% even if it means allowing a radical liberal democrat to win a victory and move the state left. For the latter, it's about defeating the liberal now, regardless of what the future is of a party that has shown wavering allegiance to the correct philosophy of governance.

Dan Maes has to be the biggest goober in the state of Colorado. Just goes to show the me, me, me, mindset of these establishment Repub jerks. He’d rather see the Dem Hikengoober win than a mostly conservative Tancredo take it. If Maes dropped Tanc would have it in the bag. Maes will take his little 5 - 8 percent all the way to the end and saddle us with another Dem Governor before he’ll drop. What a jerk.

Hugh Hewitt and Karl Rove, the Tancredo loving twins, are coming to Denver on the 29th. I wonder how much bashing they are going to be doing about Tancredo. I hope someone on FR goes and gives us a report. I don’t feel like spending $22 to hear Rove tell me what’s going on in Colorado and how the elections will affect me. I think they are a bunch of arrogant #$@!!**.

I agree but I don’t think Dan Maes is really a Republican. I think he is an opportunist that hopped on the Tea Party bandwagon for personal gain. The man doesn’t seem to have any core values. He couldn’t give two cents for the best interest of Colorado. First of all, even if he were so inclined, he’d have to borrow the two cents from Freda Poundstone.
