MICHAEL GOODWIN: Why the U.S. Is Turning to the Right
FoxNews ^ | Oct. 25, 2010 | Michael Goodwin

A Conservative friend wise about human nature and politics summarizes his views this way: "Liberals don't think they have any politics. They think they are in a state of nature. Only those who disagree with them are unnatural."

It's a brilliant insight, and tells you all you need to know about the culture and political wars in America today. Less than two years after the arc of history seemed to favor them, the high priests of liberal orthodoxy are on the run.

They have overreached, and now they must pay.

But they are not going quietly or with decency. They are desperate and dangerous, astonishingly reckless in their attacks on the majority of Americans who commit the secular sin of disagreement.

Obama's scurrilous conduct is Exhibit A of the panic on the left. Discarding the sunny-side-up mask, he crisscrosses the country in fear-monger mode. His base appeals to women, blacks, Latinos and students are identity-group politics at its worst.

He is not alone in having a worldview that depends on absolute conformity. Deviation is also dangerous to the institutions that form the backbone of the liberal establishment he leads.

The Juan Williams case says it all. Claims by the goon squad at NPR that he was fired for "expressing a personal opinion on a divisive issue" are transparent hogwash.

They are not GW Bush. & zer0 will be running at the mouth from the day He’s shoved out the door of the White House till they close the door on His box.

They all do it, every one of them. Jimmy C, Bill C, Al Gump. All of them.

They got to die to quite them down.

Kennedy come to mind?

J F Kennedy was not a liberal by today’s standards, nor the ilk of the ones you name above.

He was a pragmatic visionary patriotic centrist and was assassinated by a sworn communist, whose ideology NOW influences the democrat party.

Unless Obamacare is repealed, it is all meaningless.

America is in a twelve o’clock starboard knife edge with full right rudder just trying to stay aloft right now.

Next week we hope to level the flight attitude and snap roll the dead weight out of the ship.

Love the description, and will do my part to change the center-of-gravity of government.

"Liberals don't think they have any politics. They think they are in a state of nature. Only those who disagree with them are unnatural."

The Maha Rushie said it over and over: Liberalism is the easiest political position. You do not think it, you feel it.

Thus, Take Fed-Gov and give uninsured Health-Care. To the liberal this is one plus one. Connect the obvious dots. And what is wrong with you Neanderthals who disagree?

The Liberals are, indeed, in a state of nature. An emotionally immature one - without introspect, without retrospect.

Only after Nov 2 will we know whether the nation is turning to the right or not. We will see.

Tavis Smiley had Jimmy Carter on overnight ..... talk about a waste of studio air. But you're right: Mr. Peanut was garrulous as hell, Smiley politely attentive. (Hey, Tavis, impress me: Invite either of the Bushes on your show. What? .... no interest? ...... Why am I not surprised?)

Republican ex-presidents, even Tricky Dick, seem to have a monopoly of decency.
