New York City's bedbugs have climbed out of bed and marched into landmarks like the Empire State Building, Bloomingdale's and Lincoln Center, causing fresh anxiety among tourists who are canceling Big Apple vacations planned for the height of the holiday season.

Some travelers who had arranged trips to New York say they are creeped out about staying in hotels and visiting attractions as new reports of bedbugs seem to pop up every few days. And officials in Mayor Michael Bloomberg's administration are concerned about the effect on the city's image and $30 billion tourism industry.

These things are nightmare. We picked them up from a trip a few years ago and several hundred dollars and 10 months later, we were rid of them.

Bloomberg can go to hell with his 100% backing of the 911 Victory mosque so he could gain and main access to Islamic countries for financial data, print media and TV. HE is lower than a bedbug.

I would not go there and risk getting ticks, bed bugs or some jihadist with a truck bomb. F NYC.

Since I’m staying in NYC a few blocks from Times Square I did not need to read this.

According to the article, there was ONE BUG in Bloomingdale’s, and a few in the BASEMENT of the Empire State Building. It’s amazing how easily a panic can be caused....

You forgot the piles of garbage in the streets and general filthy state of the place.

Then there are the peep shows.

I've had a run in with the critters, too. This stuff(non-toxic) applied with a fogger worked like a charm.

Bedbugs are a consequence of allowing millions of illegal aliens to roam free and work anywhere in the U.S. Not only have bedbugs been spread by illegal aliens working in hotels - they brought them here... Modern Western Hygiene is not a value shared by Central and South American workers...

So - you get what you pay for... hotel staff - maids, etc., from Central and South America by the MILLIONS working in every hotel and motel ... totally ignorant of what is going on about them...

When there is no adherence to law - then we get what we get...

Then there is Chagas Disease - similar vector - MUCH WORSE DISEASE from these same human spreaders... LOOK IT UP....

Come on now everyone: As grim as everything else in the world seems this has to be one of the seven signs of the apocalypse!

Bed bugs....locusts...its all just a matter of semantics.

When I first started traveling the back woods of Asia in the early 70’s we used a DDT powder called “Moms” from the Philippines to sprinkle in the beds of the guest houses and poor hotels we stayed in the smaller places. It was recommended to me by an old German Doctor in Manila.
Wish I had some left for our upcoming travels to the East Coast.

I never knew about these critters until it was too late.

Now I check the reviews for all hotels prior and then check the mattress etc after I check in (before I unpack).

It’s a damn shame.

I hate hotels.....They're filthy, full of cooties, skavies, and foreigners carrying other diseases, not to mention the illegal help loot the rooms....

I'll never stay in another hotel....Ever.

Remember this old saying, told to children at bedtime: “Goodnight. Don’t let the bedbugs bite.”
Did anyone know then that the little critters really existed?

Glad you were able to get rid of them.
