Republicans Pour In Millions to Help Carly Fiorina
News Max ^ | Tuesday, 26 Oct 2010 | David A. Patten

Believing a huge upset win in California is now within reach, the Republican Party is pouring $3 million into GOP Senate challenger Carly Fiorina's battle against incumbent Sen. Barbara Boxer, forcing Democrats scrambling to respond just one week before Election Day.

The $3 million from the National Republican Senatorial Committee comes on top of the $4.8 million it has already spent in the race. Pundits see that massive influx of dollars as a clear indication that incumbent Democratic Boxer is in serious jeopardy, because the GOP usually does not spend heavily in Golden State races.

This year, however, all bets are off. Newsmax contributor, best-selling author, and Fox News commentator Dick Morris tells Newsmax.TV in an exclusive interview that the Fiorina-Boxer contest is so close that the winner may not be determined until several days after Election Night.

"I think the race is very close," Morris tells Newsmax. "I think that Boxer is a little bit ahead, but I think she's under 50 percent of the vote. And I think that that election is going to be very close.

"That's an election where I don't think we'll know the results until two or three days later," Morris says.

On Monday, the co-chairwoman of Boxer's campaign, U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California let slip just how much trouble Boxer may be in.

Interviewed off-camera just moments before a campaign appearance on Boxer's behalf, Feinstein, was asked by a reporter how things were going.

"Bad," was her one-word response.

Asked later to elaborate, Feinstein appeared to backtrack, saying: "I think the prevailing view, and I don't think this is necessarily correct, is that it's a very difficult time, there's no question about that."

The polls give ample cause for Feinstein's negative response, and show Fiorina clearly within striking distance.

Sad to say.

Fiorina has been admitted to a hospital for treatment of an infection from her breast reconstruction...

Best wishes to her for her health...but politically this is not good.

No, it’s not. Prayers she’s up and better in just a day or two, for her own sake, and for the sake of the country.

"That's an election where I don't think we'll know the results until two or three days later," Morris says.

In other words, it will take that long to find enough 'misplaced' ballots in the trunk of someone's car to give the race to Boxer.

Look terrible to think of this in politcal terms. Wish her the best, but this helps her not hurt her. Sympathy from Independents who decide late. Crap like this is how these worthless voters make up their minds. It will help not hurt. You must have been a person who thought Christine ad was good.

I totally afree with you. back in 2000, Carnahan was running against John Ashcroft and polls were showing that Ashcroft was going to win. Then Carnahan and his son died in a plane crash. I know alot of people who felt so bad for the widow Carnahan, they voted for her deceased husband, in sympathy.

My wife had an infection from this procedure a couple of months ago. Should not be a huge deal.

Hey monster, I live in cali and know full well what a piece of trash boxer is.

I know nothing of the "Christine ad..." so I won't respond to your "a person who thought" comment other than to assume that it was not meant as a compliment.

By the way, although I will vote for Fiorina, it will be much like my vote for McCainiac, holding my nose.

Fiorina is running an ad that says she will not support her party when it is wrong, meanwhile the R word is hard to find in that ad. I won't go with the Rino thing, but there is that possibility.

Meanwhile I'm kinda old and it has been my experience that negative health issues are not normally a plus in a political campaign... Didn't seem to help Cheney's popularity much.

Sounds like your wife recovered nicely, hope so.

Did she have to be hospitalized to recieve the antibiotics?

I ask only because I am wondering if Carly will be up and around making public appearances before next Tuesday.

She was supposed to be in my neighborhood today but the event was cancelled.

No, my wife was not hospitalized; but she stays home and is not running a campaign. Maybe they are doing an IV for Carly to get her up and running.

I should add that my wife did need a second surgical procedure. The infection had to do with some dye they use to find the sentinel lymph nodes. Maybe Carly is having that.

She had post op breast reconstruction. Could be an infection in the wound site. Just hope it isn’t staph. That would be a tough one to bounce back from by Tuesday.

Unfortunately Popaditch has zero chance of beating Filner in that district. The district encompasses the border area from the Pacific out to the Arizona line. Most of the district is in the arm pit of California, the Imperial Valley. Almost all of the electorate are low income, mostly unemployed uneducated Mexican Americans. The district has been gerrymandered to insure that the incumbent democrat cannot lose. Filner crushed a well known former assemblyman and state senator named Juan Vargas in the democrat primary two years ago. No primary challenge this year.

Yes, depends on what kind of reconstruction they are doing. My wife had the mastectomy in early June; at which time, they implanted a saline bag which they have been filling at regular intervals until it reached the desired size. My wife is scheduled to have the silicone implant surgery next week. Infections are always possible after surgery.

I’ve seen the internal polling. Popaditch is right in the race.

Precisely what I was thinking. That's why I keep telling people not to get too happy until the elections are completed, counted and CERTIFIED. Three words for those counting their chickens:

SENATOR
AL
FRANKEN
