Hartley, Texas sheriff speak out on US-Mexican border violence

DENVER -The Colorado woman whose husband was allegedly killed in Mexico says Americans became more aware of border violence.

Tiffany Hartley met in Denver with the Texas sheriff who investigated the shooting of her husband David Hartley.

Zapata County Texas Sheriff "Sigi" Gonzales was the first to blame Mexican drug cartels for killing David Hartley and nearly killing his wife.

The sheriff has been in office for 16 years in Zapata County and he says the last five years have been far worse than ever before.

"Saturday and Sunday of last week was total war between the cartels and the military," Gonzales said. "It takes a very unfortunate incident like this with David Hartley for America to listen to Tiffany and listen to other people telling what the problem is on the border."

Hartley says her mission now is to keep David's memory alive by fighting for the innocent people caught up in drug war violence.

"They need help. They cannot do their jobs to the best of their ability. They're doing what they can but they don't have the support they need. They don't have the manpower they need," said Hartley. "If they talk their families are going to be killed and that's why I believe this has happened to us because I don't have family in Mexico and I'm from Colorado and that brings a whole new light to what is going on down there."

The sheriff met privately with Tiffany Hartley and her family here telling them things have worsened along the border during the last five years.

"The US needs to also fund law enforcement on the US side of the border, not just border patrol but the local law enforcement we have a vested interest in our communities we live there," Sheriff Gonzales said.

They all say they want to keep the spotlight on what happened to David until the U.S. government steps in with more help.

Sheriff Gonzales says the situation is a powder keg about to explode.

He adds Americans with family in Mexico are disappearing because of the drug war.

Tiffany says part of her mission is to help law enforcement get more help while she waits word on the investigation into her husband's death.

Special thanks to Bush and the Kenyan, this very issue put the rats in power. One order to the military to put a stop to it is all that is needed but these Worms have elevated the Mexicans above us even in our own country!

It’s not PC for the MSM to bring up border problems, so Americans (and Mexicans) die; no price is too high to pay for ‘the cause’.

Since there is no body the Mexicans and some others are questioning whether he was actually killed or if this is some kind of fraud. It seems to me it is for real.
