I hope they didn't stay up too late working on the clever twist to this article. What a clunker.

“Tea Party toughs roughed up a woman from MoveOn.org because she wouldn’t move on.”

What’s the story on this? Did I miss it? Any links?

So how was anyone to know the woman wearing a wig rushing the candidate didn't have a gun or a grenade?

Apparently, Maureen doesn't know diddley squat about security work.

Unless the woman didn't (unlikely), this is a set-up.

If the persons who tackled the woman were not employees of the campaign, they acted on their own recognizance, not on the orders of the campaign.

We used to know this as 'getting involved', which is a TEA party thing, after all, and something which used to be a common trait among Americans in general. Had she had a gun or grenade their lives would have been in peril.

After all, who would have thought that nice young man was going to shoot President Reagan (and Jim Brady, and a Capitol Hill Cop) in an attempt to get a date with Jodie Foster?

The misogyny reached its zenith outside a Rand Paul debate in Lexington, Ky., on Monday night when a group of Tea Party toughs roughed up a woman from MoveOn.org because she wouldn’t move on.

One man, wearing a “Don’t Tread on Me” button, ripped off her wig and wrestled her to the ground with the help of another man, and a third Paul volunteer stamped his foot on her shoulder when she was down.

First I've heard of that incident, begging the question: if it really happened, why has it not been front page and editorial page fodder for all the enemedia? Or was it street theater with other MoveOns playing the part of Tea Partiers?

Dowd exhibits a lack of self-awareness and utter cluelessness here that is breathtaking.

The misogny actually reached its zenith within Dowd's own prior column, the one in which she attacked those women who are currently running for election as Republicans, using a barrage of the most vile, woman-hating prose to appear in public since the heyday of Andrew Dice Clay...

“Tea Party toughs roughed up a woman from MoveOn.org because she wouldn’t move on.” What’s the story on this? Did I miss it? Any links?

Fox 41's Bennett Haeberle witnessed the stomping incident.

Tuesday on Fox News @ 4, he told anchor Elizabeth Woolsey that Rand Paul arrived about an hour before the debate was set to begin.

His SUV pulled up, and Haeberle, referring to MoveOn.org activist Lauren Valle, says, "It looks from our video, I went back and watched it several times, it appears that she actually got next to the SUV and attempted to present him with that fake award. And then afterwards, a couple of the Paul supporters...restrained her and then it continued there, one lady saying there, 'Get off, get off,' and then you see the man's foot stomp on Lauren Valley's head."

A New Orleans television station is reporting that Lauren Valle was among several Greenpeace activists who were arrested back in May during the BP oil spill.

[2008]Lauren Valle, 31, was born in Falmouth, MA, and currently lives in Brooklyn, NY. She studies Eastern Religion and Philosophy at Columbia University. She has supported various organizations working to build a more just and sustainable world. She is taking action for Tibet this summer because she believes that the Olympics represent a unique and critical opportunity for people of conscience to come together on a global level and speak out for human rights.

Oh. A woman. Some nameless, faceless woman who was just innocently standing around in her MoveOn.org garb and these New Pink Panther thugs decided to beat her about the head and shoulders, eh?

I know the staff at The NYT isn't what it used to be, MoDo, but you might just want to dig a little deeper than the layer of dust when you endeavor to report all the news that's fit to print.
