Liberal Jews feel guilty about being successful due to their own hard work and have a subconscious desire to be punished for their success. The radical left is all too happy to accommodate them.

The right has the Christians. Some Jews despise the name of Christ. They won't even say his name.

They do it because they fear that to do otherwise might put them into the category of "one of the unenlightened ones". Like the rest of us simple hicks, rednecks and white trash.

This is changing, however, because many of them are coming to understand that in spite of their delusions of moral superiority and Uber-Enlightenment, the Muslim Brotherhood will still not kill them last. They kind of remind me of some European Jews in the 1930's who refused to believe what was happening, because they thought the German's were too civilized to try to kill them all.

The explanations I've heard fall into two basic catagories:

1. Many Jews live in urban settings. They think that liberalism passifies populations that would, under conditions of widespread unrest and social breakdown, target Jews for attack.
2. Many Jews living in wealthy industrialized western countries are not "religious." They are also highly conscious of their spirtual and cultural heritage. The tension between these two facts creates in them a sense of angst, of spiritual "wrongdoing," that they try to expiate by accepting, embracing, promoting, and funding liberalism, which they see, consciously or otherwise, as a secular substitute for the good works that are promoted by organized religious institutions. By doing this, they innoculate themselves against existential angst.

How realistic either of these are in fact, I don't know. They at least offer a starting point for discussion.

Of the Jews that I have known, the great divide on the whether they were liberal and gullible, or conservative and prudent, was whether they were secular or religious.

As with everyone else, big city or small town domiciles seemed to make a difference too, but not as telling as their level of religious involvement.

Jewish people are not very smart politically. Look at Jews in Europe. Its Politically correct to attack Jews there.

The way you relate to God determines the way you relate to others. Jews are taught they are the chosen people. The status comes with a burden, they will be targets of hate and oppression from nonbelievers. Their recent history (Holocaust) reinforces this concept even amongst secular Jews. Being a minority in all nations of the world, the Jewish survival model is reliance on big government for protection, and the way to do so is to possess unique technical skills needed by the ruling class and from it derive their ability to influence such government. If given a choice of a pro Jewish authoritarian government vs trusting the majority population, the Jews will lean towards government even if the government is not popular with its own majority population. For the Jews, a strong central government is one of the many safeguards against a non Jewish majority whom are by nature will be or can be anti Jewish (because of the belief of the status chosen people and the consequences of such Godly status). This pro big and powerful government tendency will make the Jewish fears of an anti Jewish majority come true especially when Jews would support a strong and big government even if it is authoritarian and unpopular with the majority non Jewish population. That is why Jews in general will make alliances with what we deem anti Jewish groups, because these groups are also minorities in the general population who want a strong central government to keep the majority population in check. Example Jews will side with an anti Jewish Muslim (big gov) movement then an anti Jewish KKK (small gov) movment. For the Jews it is better to support a coalition for big government and deal with the anti Jewish elements within the coalition then to live in a small gov nation and be at the mercy of the majority population.

I work with a Nobama-loving Jew. Considering that Nobama is a card-carrying muslim Jew hater who, along with his fellow muslims, would rather annihilated Israel, I cannot figure out why she’d have anything to do with him.

Rush summed it up fairly well one day by saying that libs are all emotion . . . no logic . . . no common sense . . . strictly emotional . . . which go to show why “blacks” who have been historically murdered, assassinated and abused by the Democratic party are still their best friends . . . all emotional.

They also have allowed their heritage to be demeaned with a constant string of lib Jewish comedians that have made it “acceptable” to lampoon their culture in a way that would be considered an “hate crime” if it came from anyone else.

It becomes cool to be a Jewish person and treat themself as a walking punchline, bringing out their heritage, or a stray Yiddish word, only when they need a laugh from their non-Jewish lib friends so they can “fit in”.

So when lefty politicians bash on Israel, they either join in or shrug there shoulders, because that’s the place where they take their Jewish-ness too seriously. Soooo uncool.

I am a Jew and have voted Conservative/Republican since GHWB. While some of what you say may be true about the secular vs religious. It seems to be in most Jews DNA going back to at least FDR. Even though FDR screwed them. Whatever the case I come from a family of all Dems I am the lone black sheep. When GWB was running I asked a family member why not vote for W the answer I was given was no no more Bushes. A ridiculous statement with no reason for voting against the man but what you expect from 80% of the Jews.
