Guilt over not being beaten by their husbands or stoned for being raped. Some here may not like this description, but our society has left "morals" so far behind....people are looking discipline. Sort of like a puppy/dog who is wild and crazy, but in the hands of a good owner, is eager to please. I know the example I chose is way over simplified, but at the very core of the matter it is what people are seeking. Discipline. These women are not having a "spiritual" revelation. They are responding to the discipline of the faith. Discipline and morals are not the same thing although closely related. Islam is about discipline and submission. Morals are about living to a higher standard and doing the right things out of desire and love.

Very good. We were on the same path, and I think you stated it more clearly than I did. Thanks. Discipline is an absolute in God’s scheme of things.

“Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false himility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.” Colossians 2:23

These women have the right idea, to submit themselves to God, and they are willing to give their all, but one is reconciled to God by the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, not by the works of the flesh.
