Dick Morris: 100 GOP-Seat Win in House Conceivable, Senate a Tossup
Newsmax ^ | Wednesday, 27 Oct 2010

Posted on 10/27/2010 9:27:00 AM PDT by GonzoII

Veteran political analyst and best-selling author Dick Morris tells Newsmax that Republicans have a huge enthusiasm edge over Democrats as Election Day approaches and the GOP can win as many as 100 House seats on Nov. 2.

He also says Republicans’ chances of gaining the 10 seats they need to take control of the Senate hinge on close races in California and Washington. In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV, Morris expresses confidence in a strong GOP showing in the midterm elections.

“I think the ground game is overwhelmingly in favor of Republicans,” he says. “The enthusiasm levels are so much greater among Republicans. And the amateur get-out-the-vote efforts of the tea party people I think will be far, far more effective than the paid professional efforts of the unions [that are backing the Democrats].

“I think there will be a tremendous grass-roots effort to get out the vote, and there better be because there are so many close races. There are probably 70 House seats that are within three or four points and could go either way, and a vigorous turnout effort is absolutely crucial to that.”

Morris explains why as many as 100 Democrats in the House are vulnerable this year.

“Right now if you take the races that are rated lean Republican or tossup, that are currently represented by Democrats, you have about 73 seats,” he says.

“I think we’re going to win almost all of those races.

“Then with SuperPacUsa.com, we’re targeting another 30 seats that are on the list as lean Democrat, likely Democrat, some that are even on the list as solid Democrat.”

129 seats ~ the Democrats are going to lose a good number of safe seats where no Republican has ever won.

I WAS optimistic. Seeing DM say something is a sure sign the opposite will occur.

Of course, just a couple weeks ago, Dick was sure the GOP was going to take the Senate. Now it’s a “tossup.”

Yeah, and Morris said it would be Condi vs Hillary in 2008.

So does this mean Obama will be sitting in the back seat for two more years?

Hard to believe a 100+ seat gain would not lead to a couple of these Senate races tipping in our direction. I understand, we are playing in Blue states to get the 9th and 10th seats in the Senate, but we have to be doing pretty well in the blue states in the House to see that many seats go GOP. We shall see. I WANT to believe Morris. I really do.

Still can’t see the Republicans taking the Senate but, if they do, there will be partying well into the night!

Actually, all things are possible this election season! I really think that Republicans are going to be voting in outrageous numbers. When that happens, who knows what can be achieved! We have been pacifists for way too long...

It's odd - almost as if the Senate pickups we need will come from coattails in the House races - it's usually the other way around, and from the President on down...

Predicted headline(s) for next Wednesday...

UNprecendented

Blowout

BIG change

Yeah, and Morris said it would be Condi vs Hillary in 2008.

It would have been interesting to watch that race and see how the demographics would have broken out.

“When you put all of this together I think we have nine seats we can definitely say we’ve got — Arkansas, Indiana, North Dakota, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Colorado, West Virginia, Nevada, and Wisconsin. Then the outcome will hinge primarily on Washington and California, and also possibly on Connecticut where [Republican Linda] McMahon has a shot.”

Too bad about Delaware. That could have been our 10th seat had we nominated someone who could actually win.

Rossi in Washington might be able to make up for it though. I don't have much faith in Californians, but Washington may come through this cycle.

Going to be an exciting election night.

Off topic...

Does anyone get Morris’ emails? Does anyone think he’s fudging his numbers on fundraising with his new PAC SuperPac?

Every day he says he’s raising 2 million here, a million the next day. Etc.

I have yet to see one of his ads on the air.

I've got taking the Senate as more likely than not. It's close, but it can happen with turnout. I'll be working to get out the vote all day next Tuesday. How many other Freepers will be doing the same or watching the polls? My guess is many thousands. I hope and pray that it will be enough.

And just how much you wanna bet on that?
We will slaughter the Democrats in the House elections. That is not even an issue anymore.

I said 55 and 8, but it’s pretty clear it’s going to be over 60, and possibly as high as 105. I think we’re stuck at eight seats in the Senate.

I cannot wait until next Tuesday evening!

I intend to stay up all night and have a completely pleasurable evening watching democrat after democrat concede.

What should I bring to the party? Champagne? Wine? Fireworks?

I;’ve got to give Morris his due..I remember the first time he said that the Repubs could actually have a chance to take a hundred swats in this midterm, several months ago. I thought it was apretty humorous and unrealistic assertion. At that time, my estimate was between 35 to 45 seats being up for grabs. But I also qualified my oopinion that he was watching the numbers on a saily basis and I was not. But all things considered, I still have my doubts the GOP will be able to take a hundred seats...It looks a lot more of a possibility than it did before.

If the GOP *does take even a few short of a 100 seats, well, I’m just going to have to bow down and proclaim Dick Morris a Polling Prophet without peer.

One bottle of champagne for the House, one for the Senate, and one for Delaware.
