If we're this terrified of someone waving a sign, we might as well just admit the Nanny Staters are right, and we really aren't capable of handling life ourselves.
Just because this woman didn't manage to kill her target this time that doesn't mean she's free of suspicion, nor should her accomplices be free.

I agree with that. As someone who also wears glasses I suspect that the incident was staged by Move On. I believe that they had a camera on her and were pretending to knock her to the ground without really hardly touching her. If people were really shoving her to the ground like that she would have had her glasses knocked off and hit the ground much harder.
The only unplanned thing was probably the man that put his foot on her shoulder and pushed down on her.
You notice that everybody else instantly withdrew and someone yelled "Oh come on" when that happened?
This was a publicity stunt by Move on IMHO.
How should a person expect a left-wing nut to behave? It’s no secret to anyone what MoveOn is, and particularly no secret with regard to the “journalists” who now consider her a hero.

She should have some more guilty pleas now to add to her felonies.

When you see a sign at one of the events where the SS is guarding stuff it has to have been passed out by the event organizers inside the stadium or room!
she shoved a sign in through the car window, right in front of his face, could have cut him seriously (I’ve had my face scarred by less of an implement than that sign) — it’s not ‘wussy’ to realize she could easily have gouged his eye(s) or his face even assuming she had no serious weapon (which she may well have had, how would you know in split-second timing?)

any evidently unstable person rushing that close to a candidate has to be assumed potentially dangerous
maybe you guys think that Squeaky Fromme was harmless? she didn’t get nearly so close to President Ford but she very nearly killed him

Loop the video a few times around 0:18 and you see a hand from the car block the edge of the white sign just as it was thrust into the car's open window.
The sign also appears to be a rigid board - since in stay perfectly rigid throughout the action/struggle before and after the attempted assault - and can also be clearly classified as a weapon when thrust at someone's face.
If a stranger charged my car and thrust any object through my window toward my face. so quickly that I have to block it with my hand, I'd treat it as an assault and be fully within the law to respond with appropriate force.
