Interesting! I have wondered about Burger and what happened to him after “the incident.” He was such a visible part of the Clinton administration, then suddently he was completely out of sight. Why would he agree to commit such a crime in the first place?

I had the time frame completely wrong. I thought SB was in the Archives trying to scrub data on Clinton for the 911 commission.

So, why would SB commit crimes?

Maybe he's a tad sociopathic.

Over the years I've met a number of folks who followed the same pattern. They joined the Reserves just as the Nam started toking up ~ OR ~ PLAN B ~ while they continued to have deferments kept trying to enlist in the Army Reserve until they "hit a homerun".

This was one of the things you could do if you had a lot of deferment time left, but was kind of risky if you were planning on joining the Reserves to avoid Nam and didn't have much time left.

I don't know all the specifics in SB's situation, but he had to have graduated from college to have time for the Reserves jammed in there before Law School (that'd be basic, specialist training, and then 6 months active duty service).

Considering all sorts of things it seems to me SB must have had a "friend" somewhere!

Whatever it was with these guys who could arrange close quarters scheduling of life's major events during a period of war that sucked down guys by the hundred thousand per month (for service ~ not necessarily death on the battlefield) were truly amazing, and usually crooked as a country road in an Albanian forest!

So maybe SB isn't a "little sociopathic" but a whole big bunch "sociopathic". Whatever, we have him on a continuing life of crime. Misfiling "W"'s Officer records was certainly a crime, and then the thing with stealing records from the National Archives?

Makes me think somebody knew his capabilities and kept him around to do the black bag jobs even Richard Nixon wouldn't do!

A budding young author probably ought to track SB down and get started on what is probably a very interesting book.
