Voters don’t need to be reminded why they dislike Republicans. They are voting in spite of it.

And for the idea his name will hurt, latest polls show Obama and him tied in approval and in some contested states stronger. That doesn’t mean he’s suddenly back over 50% approval again but it does mean he’s not an anchor anymore. Plus he’s not still in office while Obama is.

Sure, Bush grew the size of government more than any president since LBJ, but Obama is growing it even more.

Sure, Bush created a new prescription drug entitlement for retirees, but Obama sought to entitle everyone to health care paid for by taxpayers and controlled by political elites.

Sure, Bush seriously soiled the Republican brand, but Obama is doing even worse for the Democrat brand.

So compared to Obama, Bush was less bad. But this is hardly a bumper-sticker selling point. Bush should sit down and shut up before he does even more damage.
